National Updates

  • The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has sought responses on a draft policy to conduct two board examinations for class 10 from the academic session 2025-26. In the draft policy, the CBSE proposed to conduct board exams of class 10 in two phases.
  • Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) added over 16 lakh net members during December last year. This represents an increase of 9.69 percent in comparison to the members added in November 2024.
  • Twenty-one Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, including Atishi, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, and Vishesh Ravi, have been suspended for three sittings of the ongoing Delhi Assembly session. The suspension was imposed due to their unruly behavior during the address of Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today conferred gallantry, distinguished service and meritorious service medals to personnel of the Indian Coast Guard at an investiture ceremony in New Delhi. A total of 32 medals were presented including six President’s Tatrakshak Medals for Distinguished Service.
  • The Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi held a meeting with French Army Chief General Pierre Schill during his ongoing visit to France. During the meeting General Dwivedi discussed aspects of bilateral defence cooperation, further nurturing the military bond between both Armies.
  • The government, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, is organizing the first-ever Capacity Building Programme on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540.

 

International Updates

  • The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka organised a discussion on INR-LKR trade settlement in Colombo on Tuesday, focusing on strengthening bilateral economic ties.
  • In Bangladesh, student leader Nahid Islam has resigned from the Advisory Council of the interim government as the information and broadcasting adviser amid discussions that he would join a new political party.
  • In Bangladesh, the crime rate is increasing at an alarming rate. According to the police data, the cases of murder, abduction, robbery, burglary, and theft have all seen a spike across the country in January which have been the worst compared to the last six years.
  • Australia and New Zealand have the highest rates of breast cancer incidence in the world. In a new study, researchers from Australia and Canada analysed the breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in 185 countries.
  • The UN Security Council has adopted a US-drafted resolution appealing for a swift end to the Ukraine conflict and urging a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

  • In the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, the Group B clash between South Africa and Australia at Rawalpindi was called off due to incessant rain. With this washout, both teams now have 3 points each.
  • In the Hockey FIH Pro League, the Indian women’s team pulled off a thrilling shootout win against Olympic champions Netherlands in their final home match at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
  • In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) cricket, UP Warriorz defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a thrilling Super Over at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last night.
  • A 12-member Indian squad for the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Shotgun has been announced. The event will be held in Nicosia, Cyprus from May 3 to 12 this year.
