• At least 110 people were massacred in a slum in Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. The incident came after a gang leader appeared to have targeted people he suspected of causing his child’s illness through witchcraft
• Five soldiers were killed and another critically injured after a military helicopter crashed during a training flight in Türkiye’s southwest Isparta province.
• The United Nations revealed that over 77 percent of the Earth’s land has become significantly drier in the past 30 years. According to a study by the UN Science-Policy Interface, this alarming trend poses severe threats to global agriculture, water resources, and biodiversity.
• South Brazil’s Santa Catarina state remains on alert for heavy storms that have triggered flooding, landslides, and evacuations in 22 cities
• Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has raided and dismantled an international network of call centres involved in mass fraud targeting citizens of several countries, including India.

• In hockey, India registered a crushing victory over Bangladesh in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup at Muscat in Oman. The Indian team secured this victory with a large margin of 13-1.
