National Updates

  • Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released Vishnukant Shastri’s Rachana Sanchayan published by Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi on Tuesday.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh co-chaired the 21st meeting of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation with his Russian counterpart Andrey Belousov in Moscow on Tuesday
  • Students will be allowed to appear for any subject in Common University Entrance Test-UG from 2025 irrespective of the subjects studied in class 12.
  • Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the implementation of three new criminal laws in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in New Delhi on Tuesday.
  • The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme for providing equitable access to all scholarly research articles and journal publications, will likely roll out at the start of next year
  • The opposition has submitted a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar accusing him of being partisan in functioning in the House.

 

International Updates

  • In Syria, Mohamed al-Bashir has been appointed the caretaker Prime Minister of the transitional government. In a televised statement, Mr Bashir said, he will lead the interim authority till 1st of March, next year with the backing of the former rebels who toppled President Bashar al-Assad
  • Israeli warplanes have carried out dozens of attacks across Syria, including in the capital, Damascus. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said there were more than 100 strikes on military targets
  • New Zealand has announced plans to ban greyhound racing, citing an unacceptably high rate of injuries
  • In the Philippines, around 87,000 people were evacuated after Mount Kanlaon on Negros Island erupted, sending an ash plume and hot gas down its slopes.
  • Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said that China has deployed its largest navy fleet in regional waters in nearly three decades.
  • The United Arab Emirates hosted a three-day Founders’ Retreat in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, bringing together over 60 leading Indian startup founders with UAE business leaders and policymakers
