- The Election Commission announced the poll schedule for the 70-member Delhi Assembly elections. Polling for the Delhi Assembly will be held on 5th February, and counting will be done on the 8th of the next month

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the President of the European Council, António Costa. In a social media post, Mr Modi said India and the EU are natural partners. He said both are committed to working closely together to further strengthen the India-EU Strategic Partnership
- A cold wave has gripped all of North India, with dense fog being witnessed in the mornings. Dense fog conditions are likely to prevail during morning and night hours in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Jharkhand during the next 3-4 days.

- The death toll in the earthquake that struck the Nepal-Tibet border region has reached 126. Chinese official media reported that 188 people were also injured after a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake in the region
