Goa Liberation Day
The Indian Navy organized a seminar to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee (60 years) of the Liberation Day of Goa। Goa Liberation Day is celebrated every year on 19 December।The day marks the occasion when the Indian Armed Forces liberated Goa from 450 years of Portuguese rule in the year 1961।In the year 1510 the Portuguese colonised many parts of India but by the end of the 19th century the Portuguese colonies in India remained confined to Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadra, Nagar Haveli and Anjediva Island (a part of Goa)।As soon as India gained independence on August 15, 1947, India requested the Portuguese to cede their territories but these had refused।The Goa Liberation Movement started as a small-scale insurgency but reached its peak between the years 1940 to 1960।After the failure of diplomatic efforts with the Portuguese in the year 1961 Daman and Diu and Goa were annexed with the Indian mainland on 19 December by the Government of India running Operation Vijay।
गोवा मुक्ति दिवस
भारतीय नौसेना ने गोवा के मुक्ति दिवस की हीरक जयंती (60 वर्ष) के उपलक्ष्य में एक सेमिनार का आयोजन किया। गोवा मुक्ति दिवस हर साल 19 दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है।यह दिन उस अवसर को चिह्नित करता है जब भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों ने वर्ष 1961 में 450 वर्षों के पुर्तगाली शासन से गोवा को मुक्त कराया था।वर्ष 1510 में पुर्तगालियों ने भारत के कई हिस्सों को उपनिवेश बनाया लेकिन 19वीं शताब्दी के अंत तक भारत में पुर्तगाली उपनिवेश गोवा, दमन, दीव, दादरा, नगर हवेली और अंजेदिवा द्वीप (गोवा का एक हिस्सा) तक ही सीमित रहें।15 अगस्त, 1947 को जैसे ही भारत को स्वतंत्रता मिली, भारत ने पुर्तगालियों से अपने क्षेत्रों को सौंपने का अनुरोध किया लेकिन इन्होंने इनकार कर दिया था।गोवा मुक्ति आंदोलन छोटे पैमाने पर एक विद्रोह के रूप में शुरू हुआ लेकिन वर्ष 1940 से 1960 के बीच अपने चरम पर पहुँच गया।वर्ष 1961 में पुर्तगालियों के साथ राजनयिक प्रयासों की विफलता के बाद भारत सरकार द्वारा ऑपरेशन विजय चलाकर 19 दिसंबर को दमन और दीव तथा गोवा को भारतीय मुख्य भूमि के साथ मिला लिया गया।
