National Updates

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a special relief package for Line of Control residents of Jammu-Kashmir affected by recent shelling from Pakistan. The Home Minister said that, in addition to the existing 90,000 underground bunkers, additional steps will be taken.

• AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav launched the Ayush Suraksha Portal to Address Issues of Misleading Advertisements and Adverse Drug Reaction. This portal will strengthen consumer protection and regulatory oversight in the field of traditional medicine.

• The Supreme Court directed that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025, which is scheduled for June 15, be conducted in a single shift rather than two shifts. A bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath instructed the authorities to arrange for the exam.

• President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 to 15 Nursing professionals at a function held in Rashtrapati Bhavan. The award has been given for their outstanding contribution in the field of nursing.

• Defence Ministry has approved Miniratna Category-I status for Munitions India Limited (MIL), Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), and India Optel Limited (IOL).

• केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने पाकिस्तान की हालिया गोलाबारी से प्रभावित जम्मू-कश्मीर के नियंत्रण रेखा के निवासियों के लिए एक विशेष राहत पैकेज की घोषणा की। गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि मौजूदा 90,000 भूमिगत बंकरों के अतिरिक्त अतिरिक्त कदम उठाए जाएंगे।

International Updates

• Russia has dismissed recent Pakistani media reports as fake, which claim that Moscow is expanding economic ties with Islamabad, including plans to jointly set up steel mills in Karachi.

• A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the National Center for Seismology. A day earlier, a 4.5-magnitude quake had also hit the region. These tremors follow major earthquakes of 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude that struck central Myanmar on March 28.

• The United Nations is set to lay off approximately 6,900 employees and slash its 3.7 billion dollar operating budget by 20 per cent, in one of the most significant restructuring efforts in its history.

• The United States has announced that Israel has agreed to a 60-day ceasefire proposal for Gaza, even as its military operations continue in the conflict-ridden territory.

• रूस ने हाल की पाकिस्तानी मीडिया रिपोर्टों को फर्जी बताकर खारिज कर दिया है, जिसमें दावा किया गया है कि मास्को इस्लामाबाद के साथ आर्थिक संबंधों का विस्तार कर रहा है, जिसमें कराची में संयुक्त रूप से स्टील मिलें स्थापित करने की योजना भी शामिल है।

• संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने घोषणा की है कि इज़राइल गाजा के लिए 60-दिवसीय युद्धविराम प्रस्ताव पर सहमत हो गया है, भले ही संघर्षग्रस्त क्षेत्र में उसके सैन्य अभियान जारी हैं।

• India enjoyed a stellar day at the Asian Athletics Championships as Gulveer Singh bagged his second gold, leading the country’s medal charge. Gulveer clinched the men’s 5000 meters title in a Championship Record time of 13:24.78.

• In the Singapore Open Badminton, Indian men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty secured a spot in the Singapore Open semifinals with a win over top-ranked Malaysians.
