National Updates

  • Govt increases MSP of Copra for 2025 season to ensure better returns to farmers
  • President Droupadi Murmu awarded President’s Colours to the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, at a ceremonial programme.
  • The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth 7 thousand 629 crore rupees for the procurement of K9 VAJRA-T Self-Propelled Tracked Artillery Guns for the Indian Army
  • The Centre today said that the provisions of Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ( DPDP Act) are in addition to and not in derogation of any other law for the time being in force
  • The Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics data shows that Ayurvedic medicines exported to other countries decreased from one crore thirty-six lakh twenty-three thousand US dollars in 2021-22 to one crore twenty-four lakh ninety-seven thousand US dollars in 2023-24

  • The National Commission for Women (NCW) has expressed concern over the reported incident in Parliament where a woman MP felt unsafe. The Commission said that every space, including democratic institutions, must be a place of safety and respect for women.
  • CCI established 499 procurement centres across 149 districts for cotton procurement from farmers at MSP rates

 

International Updates

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day visit to Kuwait today at the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with the leadership of Kuwait.
  • In US, Georgia’s Court of Appeals has disqualified the Atlanta prosecutor, Fani Willis, who brought an election interference case against President-elect Donald Trump and his allies.
  • The US House of Representatives has rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s new plan to fund federal operations and suspend the debt ceiling, just one day before a potential government shutdown.
  • Russia and Ukraine have both ruled out renewing a key gas transit deal for Europe. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Kyiv has refused to extend the five-year agreement to transport Russian gas across Ukraine beyond its expiry at the end of this month
  • In Nigeria, at least 35 children have been killed in a stampede at a school Christmas fun-fair in the southwestern city of Ibadan.

  • Bangladesh clinched an 80-run victory over the West Indies on Friday in the third T20I, completing a historic 3-0 series sweep at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown.
  • In Tennis, the Indian team defeated Japan 4-2 in their second league match of the Asia-Oceania IC Rod Laver Junior Challenge at the Winchester Arena in Singapore, securing qualification for the worldwide challenge to be hosted by Spain next year.
  • Indian cricketer Shami to be rested for Bengal’s Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Delhi
  • In Women’s T20I Cricket, India defeated the West Indies by 60 runs in the third and final match to clinch the series 2-1 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai
