National Updates

• India’s role in global food standard development was appreciated in the 88th session of the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CCEXEC 88). The session was held at the FAO Headquarters in Rome from 14th to 18th July.

• The Government has convened an all-party meeting today ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament beginning on Monday. During the meeting, the government will seek cooperation from all the political parties to ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament.

• Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Union Coal Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy flagged off a new express train to Jodhpur at Kacheguda railway station this evening. The train serves the passengers by travelling through Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan states.

• Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal said the Free Trade Agreement between India and the four-nation European bloc ‘European Free Trade Association’ (EFTA), will be implemented from 1st October.

• Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Rail Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet will commence manufacturing by next year.

• कोडेक्स एलिमेंटेरियस कमीशन (सीसीईएक्सईसी 88) की कार्यकारी समिति के 88वें सत्र में वैश्विक खाद्य मानक विकास में भारत की भूमिका की सराहना की गई। यह सत्र 14 से 18 जुलाई तक रोम स्थित एफएओ मुख्यालय में आयोजित किया गया।
• सरकार ने सोमवार से शुरू होने वाले संसद के मानसून सत्र से पहले आज एक सर्वदलीय बैठक बुलाई है। बैठक के दौरान सरकार संसद के दोनों सदनों के सुचारू संचालन को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सभी राजनीतिक दलों से सहयोग मांगेगी।
• रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने केंद्रीय कोयला खान मंत्री जी किशन रेड्डी के साथ मिलकर आज शाम काचेगुडा रेलवे स्टेशन पर जोधपुर जाने वाली नई एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाई। यह रेलगाड़ी तेलंगाना, महाराष्ट्र, मध्य प्रदेश और राजस्थान राज्यों से होकर यात्रियों को सेवा प्रदान करती है।
• केंद्रीय वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि भारत और चार देशों के यूरोपीय ब्लॉक ‘यूरोपीय मुक्त व्यापार संघ’ (ईएफटीए) के बीच मुक्त व्यापार समझौता 1 अक्टूबर से लागू किया जाएगा।
• केंद्रीय रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा कि काजीपेट में रेल विनिर्माण इकाई अगले साल तक विनिर्माण शुरू कर देगी।

International Updates:

• In South China, a high alert has been issued for Hainan and Guangdong provinces as Typhoon Wipha entered the South China Sea, bringing strong gales and heavy rains. According to the Hainan Meteorological Service, Typhoon Wipha intensified from a tropical storm to a strong tropical storm.

• US President Donald Trump has sued the Wall Street Journal and its owners including Rupert Murdoch for at least ten billion dollars, over the newspaper’s report that his name was on a 2003 birthday greeting for Jeffrey Epstein.

• The US Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack said that Israel and Syria have agreed to a ceasefire after Israel launched air strikes on the country which it claimed were aimed at protecting an Arab religious minority Druze community.

• The United States has formally rejected a set of amendments adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO) aimed at strengthening global pandemic preparedness.

• India secured three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025, held in Sunshine Coast, Australia. Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education in released issued in Mumbai stated the names of winners which include Kanav Talwar and Arav Gupta.

• India secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships with a dominant 110-83 victory over the United Arab Emirates in their Group D clash at Solo in Indonesia.

• Hockey India today announced a 40-member core probable group for the upcoming senior women’s national coaching camp, to be held in Bengaluru from July 21 to August 29.
