National Updates
- Ministry of Ayush has announced the opening of nominations for the prestigious Prime Minister’s Yoga Awards for the 2025 edition of the International Day of Yoga. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant and sustained contributions to the promotion and development of Yoga.
- Indian Railways has given 10 lakh rupees as an ex gratia amount to the next of kin of the 18 persons killed in the accident that occurred at New Delhi Railway Station.
- Over 1.36 crore devotees took the holy dip till 6 pm on Sunday evening at the Triveni Sangam of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The grand festival continues to draw millions of devotees from across the world.
- Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar will be on a one-day tour to Chandigarh and Mohali in Punjab on Monday. During his visit, he will be the Chief Guest at National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI), Mohali.
- External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar delivered the keynote address at the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, Oman.He said, the meeting is taking place at a time when there is a considerable churn in world affairs.
International Updates
- The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries met in Munich, Germany on Saturday to help bring lasting peace to Ukraine. The G7 Ministers– consisting Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States, plus the European Union — promised to work together for the peace.
- At least 48 people were killed and many others were injured in the collapse of an illegally operated gold mine in western Mali. According to local officials, fatal accidents regularly occur in Malian mines where gold prospectors search for the precious metal without authorization.
- The three-day 7th edition of Nepal Agritech International Expo 2025 which started on 14th February, ends on Sunday. This is organised at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu, which witnessed thousands of footfalls. The expo aimed to create a platform to showcase and introduce the best and latest Agri inputs.
- US Defence Secretary Marco Rubio will meet Russian officials in Saudi Arabia for talks on ending the war in Ukraine. This has sparked fears in Europe of them being sidelined. In response, French President Emmanuel Macron has called an emergency summit in Paris with European leaders.
- The final draft of the Sri Lanka’s Budget 2025 was presented for the review of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Sunday at the Presidential Secretariat.
- In Congo, the March 23 Movement (M23) armed group has announced that its fighters have entered Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu Province
- Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp parent company Meta has announced a new 50,000-kilometer undersea cable project, ‘Waterworth,’ aimed at enhancing digital connectivity between India and the US.
- In the US, The Trump administration has indefinitely barred The Associated Press (AP) from the Oval Office and Air Force One after the news agency refused to use the new name “Gulf of America”.
Sports Updates
- In the 2024-2025 season of the FIH Pro Hockey League, India’s Men’s team defeated Spain 2-0 at Bhubaneshwar. Both goals came up in the third quarter through Mandeep and Dilpreet.
- Jacob Kiplimo from Uganda has made history in the half-marathon. He became the first person to run the race in under 57 minutes on Sunday.
