• The Election Commission of India announced that Assembly elections in Assam, Keralam, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase, while polling in West Bengal will take place in two phases.

• The Election Commission has announced bye-elections to eight Assembly Constituencies spread across six states. The Assembly Constituencies are Ponda seat in Goa, Umreth in Gujarat, Bagalkot and Davanagere South in Karnataka, Rahuri and Baramati in Maharashtra, Koridang in Nagaland and Dharmanagar.

• External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar spoke with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, last night.

• The Government has invited nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards 2027. In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that the Padma Awards will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day next year.

• The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that there have been no reports of dry-outs of gas supply at LPG distributorships across the country. In a statement, the Ministry said, LPG bookings have shown a decline, with about 77 lakh bookings recorded yesterday compared to around 88 lakh bookings earlier.

• The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to submit a comprehensive report on illegal constructions along the banks and flood plains of the Ganga river and inform about the steps taken to remove encroachments.

• Deputy Chief of Mission in Saudi Arabia, Abu Mathen George, held a virtual interaction with Principals of CBSE-affiliated schools across Saudi Arabia. The Deputy Chief Mission briefed them on current regional situations and the Embassy’s initiatives to support the Indian community.

• The West Asia conflict, now in its sixteenth day, has intensified with a fresh wave of large-scale attacks by the United States and Israel forces on Iran. Multiple strikes hit the industrial city of Isfahan in Iran, with reports of more than 15 missile impacts.

• The Embassy of India in Doha informed that Qatar Airways is scheduled to operate three more flights to India for the next two days. These flights will connect Qatar with New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. Earlier, Qatar Airways operated one flight to India yesterday, carrying passengers to New Delhi.

• Top officials from the United States and China launched ⁠a new round of trade talks before a summit ⁠between their Presidents, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, expected to be held in Beijing later this ⁠

• Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that military troops will be deployed to assist communities affected by days of severe flooding in the Northern Territory.

• Russian air defence systems shot down 28 Ukrainian drones that were reportedly heading toward the capital. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated this in a social media post. The mayor, however, did not give any details of damage or casualties on the ground.

• Formula 1 has announced that the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not take place in April due to the ongoing war in West Asia. The statement from the Liberty media-owned sport governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), said the races will not be replaced.

• India lost 0-2 against England in the final of the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifier at G.M.C. Balyogi Hockey Ground in Hyderabad last evening but still managed to progress to this year’s mega-event, to be co-hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium.
