• Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated the Siuri Road Over Bridge, Kumarpur Road Over Bridge and flagged off a new Asansol-Bokaro train service in West Bengal. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vaishanw said, these projects mark a significant step towards strengthening rail infrastructure.

• A delegation of 44 students from Ladakh and Kerala, accompanied by their teachers-in-charge, is currently visiting Nagaland under the Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme. Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, is hosting the visiting teams until 14 February.

• Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called upon Agri Scientists to develop Integrated farming models for small farmers. Interacting with the Scientists of the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research near Bengaluru.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi held wide-ranging talks with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur. The talks covered political, defence and security cooperation, trade and investment, the digital economy, energy, education, tourism and regional issues.

• The India Meteorological Department, IMD has forecast dense to very dense fog in Uttar Pradesh today. The weather agency has also predicted dense fog over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Uttarakhand for the day.

• The Central Water Commission (CWC) will organise a One-Day Stakeholders’ Workshop on Flood Forecasting Services and Guidelines for the preparation and Appraisal of Flood Management-

• The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has welcomed the India-US trade deal, stating that it will be a major boon to the MSME sector of the country.

• The Government has debunked a video circulating on social media claiming that the India-US trade agreement will harm Indian farmers. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) informed that the claim is misleading.

• The Government has invited comments from the public and stakeholders on the Draft Income-tax Rules and Forms, 2026. Comments can be sent till the 22nd of this month on the official portal of Income Tax.

• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the imposition of new sanctions targeting companies involved in the production of Russian missiles and drones, as well as entities linked to Russia’s financial sector

• National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met the National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada during his visit to Ottawa. The visit was part of the regular bilateral security dialogue between the two sides, which took place yesterday.

• In Bangladesh, a total of 2,034 candidates, including 275 independents, are contesting the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) Election and Referendum scheduled for the 12th of this month.

• Seychelles President Patrick Herminie arrived in New Delhi after productive engagements in Chennai and Mumbai. In a social media post, the External Affairs Ministry informed that Earlier Seychelles President visited Chennai and Mumbai, where he met key stakeholders in the fields of governance, industries,etc.

• Indian Navy’s sail training ship INS Sudarshini concluded her first port call at Salalah in Oman highlighting historic seafaring links between India and Oman and reinforcing friendship of the bridge of between the two navies.

• Former Water Resources Minister and senior Awami League leader Ramesh Chandra Sen died in custody at Dinajpur District Jail, prompting renewed scrutiny of the treatment and medical care of elderly detainees. He was 85. Jail and hospital officials said Sen’s condition deteriorated inside the jail.

• In Shooting, India’s Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan set a world record and a Championship record on their way to winning gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026 in New Delhi.

• The Abu Dhabi Masters 2026, officially known as the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026, has officially commenced, marking the West Asia’s largest-ever mass participation multi-sport event dedicated to athletes aged 30 and above.

• In Football, India thrashed Bangladesh 4-nil in the final to clinch the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Women’s Championship title at the Pokhara Rangasala Stadium in Nepal.

• रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने सिउरी रोड ओवर ब्रिज, कुमारपुर रोड ओवर ब्रिज का वर्चुअल उद्घाटन किया और पश्चिम बंगाल में नई आसनसोल-बोकारो रेल सेवा को हरी झंडी दिखाई। इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए श्री वैष्णव ने कहा कि ये परियोजनाएं रेल बुनियादी ढांचे को मजबूत करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम हैं।
