National Updates

  • India has condemned the string of attacks that have taken place in the black sea region in the last one or two days. Briefing media in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that such attacks threaten commercial shipping and endangers the lives of seafaring communities.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi today.

  • The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, MoSPI, has released the ‘Strategy for Environmental-Economic Accounts in India 2026-2030’. The Ministry informed that the strategy builds on the earlier roadmap for 2022-26 and aims to strengthen environmental accounting in the country.

International Updates

  • The 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to French chemist Henri B. Kagan and Japanese chemist Kenso Soai for their pioneering discoveries of non-linear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.

  • The UAE has started implementing new limits on sodium, processed sugar and fat content in selected packaged food products, as part of a national effort to improve nutrition and reduce obesity and other noncommunicable diseases linked to unhealthy diets.

  • Russian missiles and drones pounded Kyiv and a dozen other Ukrainian regions overnight, killing 19 civilians, including four children, and wounding around 60 others. Ukrainian officials said the worst-hit area was Pryluky in the northern Chernihiv region.

  • IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has called on countries, both rich and poor, to take faster action to reduce debt and tackle growing inequality.

Sports Update

  • Paralympic champions Pramod Bhagat and Bhavina Patel will lead the Indian contingent as flag bearers at the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Para Games, which will get underway later this month. The Games will be held from 18th to 24th October at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.

  • In Badminton, Indian Men’s Doubles pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy advanced to the second round of the Arctic Open Super 500 tournament at Vantaa in Finland.

• भारत ने पिछले एक या दो दिनों में काला सागर क्षेत्र में हुए हमलों की निंदा की है। नई दिल्ली में मीडिया को जानकारी देते हुए विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रणधीर जायसवाल ने कहा कि इस तरह के हमलों से वाणिज्यिक नौवहन को खतरा है और समुद्री समुदायों का जीवन खतरे में पड़ता है।
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी आज नई दिल्ली के यशोभूमि में इंडिया मोबाइल कांग्रेस (आईएमसी) के १० वें संस्करण का उद्घाटन करेंगे।
• सांख्यिकी एवं कार्यक्रम कार्यान्वयन मंत्रालय, MoSPI ने ‘भारत में पर्यावरण-आर्थिक लेखा रणनीति 2026-2030’ जारी की है। मंत्रालय ने बताया कि यह रणनीति २०२२-२६ के लिए पहले के रोडमैप पर आधारित है और इसका उद्देश्य देश में पर्यावरण लेखांकन को मजबूत करना है।

• रसायन विज्ञान में 2026 का नोबेल पुरस्कार फ्रांसीसी रसायनज्ञ हेनरी बी. कागन और जापानी रसायनज्ञ केन्सो सोई को असममित कार्बनिक संश्लेषण में गैर-रैखिक प्रभावों और ऑटोकैटेलिसिस की उनकी अग्रणी खोजों के लिए दिया गया है।
• यूएई ने पोषण में सुधार और मोटापे तथा अस्वास्थ्यकर आहार से जुड़ी अन्य गैर-संचारी बीमारियों को कम करने के राष्ट्रीय प्रयास के तहत चयनित पैकेज्ड खाद्य उत्पादों में सोडियम, प्रसंस्कृत चीनी और वसा की मात्रा पर नई सीमाएं लागू करना शुरू कर दिया है।
• रूसी मिसाइलों और ड्रोनों ने कीव और एक दर्जन अन्य यूक्रेनी क्षेत्रों पर रात भर हमला किया, जिसमें चार बच्चों सहित 19 नागरिक मारे गए और लगभग 60 अन्य घायल हो गए। यूक्रेनी अधिकारियों ने कहा कि सबसे अधिक प्रभावित क्षेत्र उत्तरी चेर्निहीव क्षेत्र का प्रिलुकी है।
