National Updates

  • Ministry of External Affairs has announced that 95 Indian fishermen were handed over by Bangladesh authorities to the Bangladesh Coast Guard yesterday, who will transfer them to the Indian Coast Guard on upcoming Sunday.
  • BJP appoints Union Ministers as election officers for State presidents, National council elections
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Delhi today. He will inaugurate the around 1700 newly constructed flats for the JJ cluster dwellers and hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries in Ashok Vihar, in the national capital.
  • Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced projects worth 12,500 crore rupees to improve Delhi’s transport system and reduce congestion as well as pollution in the city.
  • The National Federation of the Blind organized a musical evening in New Delhi to mark the celebration of World Braille Day.
  • Employment generation in the country has witnessed a remarkable growth of 36 per cent during the last ten years. According to the Labour and Employment Ministry, over 17 crore additional jobs were created from 2014 to 2024.

  • India’s total Greenhouse Gas Emissions, GHG in 2020 has declined by 7.93 per cent as compared to 2019. According to the 4th Biennial Update Report submitted by India to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

  • In Japan, a cyberattack caused website failure and service disruptions, following a series of similar incidents at major firms in the country recently.

  • Mubadala Investment Company, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, has claimed the title of the world’s leading sovereign investor in 2024, deploying an impressive 29.2 billion dollars across 52 deals.
  • A mass shooting at Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York, today, has left at least 11 people injured. This incident is part of a disturbing series of attacks in the US within the last 24 hours.

  • The National Sports Awards have been announced. World Chess Champion D Gukesh, Double Medalist in Paris Olympics Manu Bhaker, Indian Hockey Team Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Gold Medalist in Paris Paralympics Praveen Kumar will be presented Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
  • In the Brisbane International Tennis, India’s Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli and Robin Haase of the Netherlands went down in straight sets against the Australian duo of Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler.
