• Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections.

• Culture Ministry today launched the upgraded version of the Indian Culture Portal at Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi. The platform aims to make the country’s diverse cultural knowledge and heritage more accessible to scholars, researchers, and the general public through a single digital interface.

International Updates

• The Central Board of Secondary Education – CBSE West Asian Region – has cancelled the 10th Class exam scheduled from the 7th to the 11th of this month. According to the CBSE, examinations of class 10 scheduled on the 2nd, 5th and 6th of March shall also stand cancelled.

• Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that Russia and Ukraine exchanged 200 prisoners of war each and plan to swap another 300 prisoners today. Despite little progress toward a peace agreement to end the four-year conflict, the two countries have continued to carry out periodic exchanges of prisoners.

• The conflict in West Asia is escalating rapidly as several countries are becoming involved. The United States and Israel are carrying out joint air strikes against Iran while Tehran is responding with missiles and drones.

• A day after a US submarine attack sank the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Dena in waters south of Sri Lanka, reports have emerged that Sri Lanka and Iran have held discussions on the rapidly evolving situation.

• With 60% of voters turning out in election in Nepal, with sparse incidents of disputes in Dolakha, sarlahi and Rautahat, the overall election was held peacefully. Voters exercised their voting rights with spirit to strengthen democracy in Nepal.  

• In Pakistan, violence against civilians continues unabated in Balochistan. A leading human rights organisation in the country brought to light the extrajudicial killing of another civilian and the enforced disappearance of two others across the province at the hands of Pakistani forces.

• In the All England Open Badminton Championships, Lakshya Sen has stormed into the Men’s Singles quarterfinals in Birmingham. World number 12 Lakshya defeated Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus, 21-19, 21-23, and 21-10 in the pre-quarterfinals.

• केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड – सीबीएसई पश्चिम एशियाई क्षेत्र – ने इस महीने की 7वीं से 11वीं तक होने वाली 10वीं कक्षा की परीक्षा रद्द कर दी है। सीबीएसई के अनुसार, 2, 5 और 6 मार्च को होने वाली कक्षा 10 की परीक्षाएं भी रद्द रहेंगी।
