• Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with a group of eminent economists and experts at NITI Aayog in New Delhi. The theme of the interaction was ‘Aatmanirbharta and Structural Transformation: Agenda for Viksit Bharat’.

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. The weather agency has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Chandigarh today.

• Ministry of Defence signed contracts worth 4 thousand 666 crore rupees for the procurement of Close Quarter Battle (CQB) Carbine and Heavy Weight Torpedoes in New Delhi. This includes a contract worth 2 thousand 770 crore rupees with Bharat Forge Ltd and PLR Systems Pvt Ltd.

• National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Test House, a premier institution under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs in New Delhi.

• Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil virtually launched Jal Seva Aankalan to strengthen service delivery and community ownership under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

• The Ministry of Education has announced the results of the contest under the Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors, PM-YUVA 3.0. Under this edition, 43 book proposals in 22 Indian languages and English have been selected.

• Israeli forces launched fresh strikes across the Gaza Strip, carrying out aerial and artillery attacks in several areas. According to local media, the air strikes targeted locations north of Rafah and east of Khan Younis, the Maghazi camp in central Gaza and Beit Lahiya in the north.

• Protests erupted in Iran after the country’s currency plummeted to a record low against the U.S. dollar, and the head of the Central Bank resigned. According to media reports, these are considered the largest protests in the past three years.

• The United States has deployed two aircraft carriers and an amphibious assault ship to the Western Pacific as China conducts military exercises around Taiwan.

• Bangladesh has declared three days of state mourning following the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia. A one-day general public holiday will be observed today, the day of her namaz-e-janaza.
