National Updates

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand tomorrow.
• The inflow of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) has registered an increase of 26 percent during the first half of the current fiscal year when compared to the same period the previous year.
• Over 16 lakh 14 thousand electric vehicles have been supported by the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, FAME II scheme, till the end of last year.
• The government said 26 Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) have been selected by the oil marketing companies for taking up retail dealerships of petrol and diesel pumps.
• The government today informed the Lok Sabha that the claims of farmers in the country under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have been settled to an extent of over 1.72 lakh crore rupees.

International Updates

• The Indian Embassy in Libya facilitated the return of 18 Indian nationals from Benghazi, Libya. They are scheduled to arrive today.
• Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy held a high-level meeting with Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef in New Delhi.
• In Bangladesh, the High Court refused to grant bail to Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatan Jagran Jote spokesperson and former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in a sedition case filed over alleged desecration of the national flag.
• Dubai is preparing to host the inaugural Global Justice, Love & Peace Summit on April 12-13, 2025, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City. The event, organised by the I am Peacekeeper Movement, will bring together 2,800 peacekeepers and 72 distinguished speakers, including 10 Nobel Laureates.
• Record-breaking snowfall fell on Japan’s northern main island of Hokkaido, disrupting traffic and causing airport closures. The local government said parts of highways and main roads were closed, and train services in the affected areas were suspended.
• United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, has warned that the shutting down of USAID will have an immediate impact on lifesaving activities. He said the UN is in touch with various agencies to assess the impact of USAID shutting down.
• Russia will deploy its Oreshnik missile systems in Belarus in accordance with the agreements reached between the two countries.

Sports Updates

• Shuttler Anmol Kharb of Haryana continued her impressive run to win gold in women’s singles, while Tamil Nadu’s K. Satish Kumar claimed the men’s singles as well as the doubles title at the 38th National Games at Dehradun.
• In Mumbai Open Tennis 2025, India’s Ankita Raina has advanced to the pre-quarterfinals with a commanding victory over her compatriot Vaishnavi Adkar 6-2, 6-2 in the Women’s Singles round of 32 at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai.
• In Tennis, India’s Sumit Nagal advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the Rosario Challenger in Argentina. The ace Indian tennis star, seeded eight, defeated Renzo Olivo of Argentina in the round of 32.
