लोहड़ी (LOHRI)

भारत के अलग-अलग प्रांतों में मकर संक्रांति के दिन या आसपास कई त्योहार मनाएं जाते हैं, जो कि मकर संक्रांति के ही दूसरे रूप हैं। उन्हीं में से एक है लोहड़ी। पंजाब और हरियाणा में लोहड़ी का त्योहार धूम-धाम से मनाया जाता है।

> लोहड़ी का अर्थ <

लोहड़ी को पहले तिलोड़ी कहा जाता था। यह शब्द तिल तथा रोड़ी (गुड़ की रोड़ी) शब्दों के मेल से बना है, जो समय के साथ बदल कर लोहड़ी के रूप में प्रसिद्ध हो गया। मकर संक्रांति के दिन भी तिल-गुड़ खाने और बांटने का महत्व है। पंजाब के कई इलाकों मे इसे लोही या लोई भी कहा जाता है।

> कब मनाते हैं लोहड़ी <

त्योहार लोहड़ी जो बसंत के आगमन के साथ 13 जनवरी, पौष महीने की आखरी रात को मनाया जाता है। इसके अगले दिन माघ महीने की सक्रांति को माघी के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

> नववधू, बहन, बेटी और बच्चों का उत्सव <

पंजाबियों के लिए लोहड़ी उत्सव खास महत्व रखता है। जिस घर में नई शादी हुई हो या बच्चा हुआ हो उन्हें विशेष तौर पर बधाई दी जाती है। प्राय: घर में नव वधू या बच्चे की पहली लोहड़ी बहुत विशेष होती है। इस दिन बड़े प्रेम से बहन और बेटियों को घर बुलाया जाता है।

> उत्सव मनाने की मान्यता <

कहा जाता है कि संत कबीर की पत्नी लोई की याद में यह पर्व मनाया जाता है। यह भी मान्यता है कि सुंदरी एवं मुंदरी नाम की लड़कियों को राजा से बचाकर एक दुल्ला भट्टी नामक डाकू ने किसी अच्छे लड़कों से उनकी शा‍दी करवा दी थी।

> खेत खलिहान का उत्सव <

वैसाखी त्योहार की तरह लोहड़ी का संबंध भी पंजाब के गांव, फसल और मौसम से है। इस दिन से मूली और गन्ने की फसल बोई जाती है। इससे पहले रबी की फसल काटकर घर में रख ली जाती है। खेतों में सरसों के फूल लहराते दिखाई देते हैं।

> पौराणिक मान्यता <

पौराणिक मान्यता अनुसार सती के त्याग के रूप में यह त्योहार मनाया जाता है। कथानुसार जब प्रजापति दक्ष के यज्ञ की आग में कूदकर शिव की पत्नीं सती ने आत्मदाह कर लिया था। उसी दिन की याद में यह पर्व मनाया जाता है।

> लोहड़ी का आधुनिक रूप <

आधुनिकता के चलते लोहड़ी मनाने का तरीका बदल गया है। अब लोहड़ी में पारंपरिक पहनावे और पकवानों की जगह आधुनिक पहनावे और पकवानों को शामिल कर लिया गया है। लोग भी अब इस उत्सव में कम ही भाग लेते हैं।

> ईरान में भी इसी तरह मनाते हैं उत्सव <

ईरान में भी नववर्ष का त्योहार इसी तरह मनाते हैं। आग जलाकर मेवे अर्पित किए जाते हैं। मसलन, पंजाब, हरियाणा और दिल्ली में मनाई जाने वाली लोहड़ी और ईरान का चहार-शंबे सूरी बिल्कुल एक जैसे त्योहार हैं। इसे ईरानी पारसियों या प्राचीन ईरान का उत्सव मानते हैं।

 

Many festivals are celebrated in or around the day of Capricorn Sankranti in different provinces of India, which are other forms of Capricorn Sankranti। One of them is Lohri। The festival of Lohri in Punjab and Haryana is celebrated with pomp।

> Lohri means <

Lohri was previously called Tillodi। The word is made up of a combination of the words sesame and sore (jaggery), which changed over time to become famous as a lohari। Even on the day of Capricorn solstice, eating and distributing sesame jaggery is important। It is also called Lohi or Loi in many areas of Punjab।

> When do you celebrate Lohri <

The festival Lohari is celebrated on the last night of Paush month, 13 January with the arrival of spring। On its next day, the Sakranti of Magh month is celebrated as Maghi।

> Navadhu, sister, daughter and children’s celebration <

The Lohri festival holds special significance for the Punjabis। The house where the new marriage took place or the child is specially greeted। Often the new bride or baby’s first lohri is very special in the house। On this day, sisters and daughters are called home with great love।

> Celebration recognition <

The festival is said to have been celebrated in memory of Loi, the wife of Saint Kabir। It is also recognized that by saving the girls named Sundari and Mundari from the king, a robber named Dulla Bhatti got their good boys done।

> Festival of farm barns <

Like the Vaisakhi festival, Lohri is also related to the village, harvest and weather of Punjab। Radish and sugarcane crops are sown from this day। Before this, Rabi crop is harvested and kept in the house। Mustard flowers are seen waving in the fields।

> Legendary Recognition <

According to mythological belief, this festival is celebrated as the renunciation of sati। According to the statement when Prajapati jumped into the fire of Daksha’s yajna and Shiva’s wife Sati had committed suicide। This festival is celebrated in memory of the same day।

> Modern form of sparrows <

The way of celebrating the lohari has changed due to modernity। Modern robes and dishes have now been replaced by traditional robes and dishes in Lohari। People also rarely participate in this festival।

> Celebrates similar in Iran Fest <

New Year festivals in Iran also celebrate in this way। Nuts are offered by lighting a fire। Lohri celebrated in Maslan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and Chahar-Shambe Suri of Iran are exactly the same festival। It is considered a celebration of Iranian Parsis or ancient Iran।
