Nag River

Nag River

The Nag River is a river flowing through the city of Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is a tributary of the Kanhan River, which eventually joins the Wainganga River, a major tributary of the Godavari River. The Nag River has historically been significant for the city of Nagpur, providing water for various purposes including drinking water, agriculture, and industrial use.

In recent times, however, the Nag River has faced severe pollution issues due to untreated sewage and industrial effluents being discharged into it. This pollution has led to environmental degradation, health hazards, and loss of biodiversity in and around the river. Efforts have been made by various government and non-governmental organizations to clean up and rejuvenate the Nag River, including the implementation of sewage treatment plants and awareness campaigns to reduce pollution. However, challenges remain in effectively managing and restoring the health of the river ecosystem.
