The true meaning of meditation is to still the mind. The true meaning of meditation is to reduce fear, worry, stress, anxiety. These are caused by thoughts of the mind. And when we reach that state when we are thoughtless, that state is known as consciousness. It is in the state of consciousness, when the light of the Soul makes the intellect shine, that we are able to discriminate and we are able to reach the realization of the truth. This is enlightenment. Can we attain enlightenment without meditation? It is very difficult. We have to learn to still the mind. The mind is a rascal, it’s our biggest enemy. It makes us believe in the myth. It hides the truth but meditation makes the mind still. It is through meditation that we can kill the mind and it is in this state of consciousness that we can be enlightened. But more importantly, peace is experienced when we have a still mind. Otherwise, we are living a life of anxiety.
