National Updates

  • India has called upon Bangladesh to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and all minorities and their places of worship.
  • Saule Biluvaite directorial Toxic bagged the prestigious Golden Peacock Award at the  55th International Film Festival of India
  • National Highways Authority of India directed its field offices to take proactive mitigation measures to enhance visibility for the safety of National Highway users.
  • Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has emphasised that self-reliance and indigenous defence capabilities are the foundations of enduring peace.
  • Iron ore production has registered a growth of 4.1 per cent from April to October in the financial year 2024-25. Ministry of Mines said that the production of iron ore increased to 158.4 million metric tonnes as compared to 152.1 million metric tonnes during the same period last financial year.
  • The Supreme Court ordered that Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), currently in force to tackle the severe air quality in Delhi, will continue till the 2nd of December.
  • Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General, Upendra Dwivedi launched Eklavya, an online digital platform for officers training.
  • Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Ease of Doing Business and Regulatory Affairs Portal. The portal will provide status and updates on key initiatives on Ease of Doing Business by both the union government and CII.
  • The government today said that a total of three thousand ninety-four illegal recruitment agents across the country have been notified on the eMigrate portal as of October this year
  • Around 1,000 hoax bomb threat messages and calls have been received this year. This is around eight times as compared to last year
  • Around ninety-seven cities out of one hundred thirty cities have shown improvement in the air quality in terms of particulate matter (PM) 10 concentrations during 2023-24 with the government’s efforts

International Updates

  • More than one million people in Ukraine have been reportedly left without power after Russia launched a massive strike on the country’s energy grid overnight. At least 12 areas across Ukraine, including three western regions, have been hit.
  • In Bangladesh, the High Court refused to intervene in the ISKCON-related violence issues after being informed that the authorities concerned have taken necessary measures in this regard.
  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors has unanimously elected Masato Kanda as ADB’s 11th President. Kanda currently serves as Special Advisor to Japan’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
  • Sri Lanka continues to face severe weather conditions due to the deep depression in southwest Bay of Bengal

  • Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma hailed the strong relationship between India and Australia in his speech at the Australian Parliament yesterday and vowed to build on the series-winning momentum in the ongoing tour.
  • In Badminton, PV Sindhu has advanced to the Women’s Singles quarter-final of Syed Modi India International 2024 Super 300 tournament in Lucknow, in an all-Indian battle defeating Ira Sharma. Sindhu won 21-10, 12-21, 21-15, in the Round of 16, in a tiebreaker after a solid fight from Ira.
  • Rinchen Youdol, a para-athlete from Bodhkharboo, Kargil in the Union Territory of Ladakh, has created history by winning the Bronze Medal at the 1st World Para Poomsae Taekwondo Championships
