• In a major boost to financial inclusion in remote Manipur, the Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, virtually inaugurated the SBI Parbung Branch from the bank’s Local Head Office in Guwahati.

• Vice-President of India, C P Radhakrishnan, will be on a two-day visit to Keralam from today. On the first day of his visits, the Vice-President will grace the Valedictory Function of the Centenary Celebrations of St Berchmans College, Changanassery.

• The Indian Air Force demonstrated its combat prowess and firepower capabilities during Exercise ‘Vayu Shakti’ at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in western Rajasthan. The large-scale day-to-night exercise was conducted in the Thar desert near the India-Pakistan border.

• Indian Medical Association (IMA) has hailed the central government’s decision to provide free HPV vaccination for adolescent girls aged 14 years across India. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, IMA said that this initiative will contribute to the prevention of cervical cancer.

• Indian economy grew at 7.8% in the third quarter of the current financial year. The growth rate in Real GDP during 2025-26 is estimated at 7.6% as compared to 7.1% in 2024-25. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released the New Series of Annual and Quarterly Estimates.

• Secretary of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation V L Kantha Rao led an Indian delegation to Bhutan to discuss matters related to cooperation on transboundary rivers and to review the ongoing activities of the Punatsangchhu-I Hydro Electric Project.

• Iran’s indirect talks with the US over the Iranian nuclear program are some of the country’s most intense and longest rounds of negotiations, foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has said. Araghchi made the comments yesterday in an interview with Iranian state television.

• A political and economic controversy has erupted in Bangladesh following the sudden removal of Central Bank Governor Ahsan Habib Mansur and the appointment of businessman Md Mostaqur Rahman as the new chief of Bangladesh Bank.

• A French parliamentarian has raised concerns over alleged systematic erosion of Tibetan language and culture by the Chinese government, according to a report by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

• Pakistan has declared an open war against Afghanistan after the Taliban administration said that its forces killed and captured several Pakistani soldiers during a cross-border offensive.
