National Updates

• Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a meeting with officials of GIFT City and the International Financial Services Centre Authority – IFSCA in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. According to the Finance Ministry, the meeting was attended by top officials, including the Secretary of the Ministry.

• India created history as the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, carrying the Axiom-4 crew, including Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, gently docked with the International Space Station (ISS) at 4 p.m. last afternoon. With this, India has an astronaut in space after 41 years.

• The External Affairs Ministry has said that member countries participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meeting could not adopt a joint statement. It said, certain member countries could not reach a consensus on certain issues.

• Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated India’s first Non-Banking Financial Company-NBFC in the maritime sector, Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited-SMFCL.

• The Staff Selection Commission – SSC has fully digitised its process of providing dossiers to Ministries, Departments and other Government organisations to speed up recruitment and strengthen data security.

• In continuation of the ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime and Digital Arrest Scams, CBI has launched nationwide searches at 42 locations in five states in connection with Mule Bank accounts.

• केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने गुजरात के गांधीनगर में GIFT सिटी और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वित्तीय सेवा केंद्र प्राधिकरण – IFSCA के अधिकारियों के साथ एक बैठक की अध्यक्षता की। वित्त मंत्रालय के अनुसार, बैठक में मंत्रालय के सचिव सहित शीर्ष अधिकारियों ने भाग लिया।
• भारत ने स्पेसएक्स ड्रैगन अंतरिक्ष यान के रूप में इतिहास रचा, जिसमें भारतीय वायु सेना समूह के कैप्टन शुभांशु शुक्ला सहित एक्सिओम -४ चालक दल को ले जाया गया, जो कल दोपहर ४ बजे धीरे से अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (आईएसएस) के साथ डॉक किया गया। इसके साथ ही भारत के पास ४१ साल बाद अंतरिक्ष में एक अंतरिक्ष यात्री है।
• विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (एससीओ) के रक्षा मंत्रियों’ की बैठक में भाग लेने वाले सदस्य देश संयुक्त बयान नहीं अपना सके। इसमें कहा गया है कि कुछ सदस्य देश कुछ मुद्दों पर आम सहमति तक नहीं पहुंच सके।
• केंद्रीय बंदरगाह, नौवहन और जलमार्ग मंत्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल ने समुद्री क्षेत्र में भारत की पहली गैर-बैंकिंग वित्तीय कंपनी-एनबीएफसी, सागरमाला फाइनेंस कॉरपोरेशन लिमिटेड-एसएमएफसीएल का उद्घाटन किया।
• कर्मचारी चयन आयोग – एसएससी ने भर्ती में तेजी लाने और डेटा सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने के लिए मंत्रालयों, विभागों और अन्य सरकारी संगठनों को डोजियर उपलब्ध कराने की अपनी प्रक्रिया को पूरी तरह से डिजिटल कर दिया है।
• साइबर अपराध और डिजिटल गिरफ्तारी घोटालों से निपटने के लिए चल रहे प्रयासों को जारी रखते हुए, सीबीआई ने म्यूल बैंक खातों के संबंध में पांच राज्यों में 42 स्थानों पर राष्ट्रव्यापी तलाशी शुरू की है।

• Spain has refused to hold separate talks with the United States on trade issues. Spanish Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo said, trade relations are conducted through US negotiations with the European Commission, which Spain is part of.

• Australia has imposed another package of anti-Russian sanctions against 37 individuals and seven entities. As per the Australian Foreign Ministry, they include singer Shaman and senior management members of several Russian companies.

• Bangladesh will observe August 8 as ‘New Bangladesh Day’ to mark the anniversary of swearing-in of the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus who took over three days after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 last year, following a student-led uprising.

• Six people died due to severe flooding in Southwest China’s Guizhou province amid continuous heavy rainfall. The heavy rainfall and upstream inflows have triggered severe flooding in Rongjiang and Congjiang counties of Guizhou.

• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with US President Donald Trump and discussed steps toward a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

• स्पेन ने व्यापार मुद्दों पर संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के साथ अलग से बातचीत करने से इनकार कर दिया है। स्पेन के अर्थव्यवस्था मंत्री कार्लोस कुएरपो ने कहा कि व्यापार संबंध यूरोपीय आयोग के साथ अमेरिकी वार्ता के माध्यम से संचालित होते हैं, जिसका स्पेन भी हिस्सा है।
• ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने 37 व्यक्तियों और सात संस्थाओं के खिलाफ रूस विरोधी प्रतिबंधों का एक और पैकेज लगाया है। ऑस्ट्रेलियाई विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, इनमें गायक शमन और कई रूसी कंपनियों के वरिष्ठ प्रबंधन सदस्य शामिल हैं।

• India stamped its authority at the 2nd Asian Squash Doubles Championships with a commanding performance, clinching all three titles, men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles. In the men’s doubles final, top seeds Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar defeated Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Nasir.

• The Khelo India University Games 2025 will be held in November this year in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that more than 4 thousand athletes are expected to participate.
