National Updates
- President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards for the Year 2025. The Awards, among the country’s highest civilian honours, are conferred in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
- The Rural Development Ministry felicitated Lakhpati Didis on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day at the Sashakt Samudaya, Sashakt Lakhpati Didi program in New Delhi.
- President Droupadi Murmu has approved Gallantry awards to 93 Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, including 11 posthumous, on the eve of 76th Republic Day. These include two Kirti Chakras, including one posthumous, 14 Shaurya Chakras, including three posthumous.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held extensive bilateral talks, both in restricted format as well as delegation-level talks, in New Delhi.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan felicitated the Super-100 winners of Veer Gatha 4.0 in New Delhi. Among the hundred winners, 66 are girls from different parts of the country.
- Central Consumer Protection Authority, CCPA has imposed a penalty of three lakh rupees on a coaching centre for advertising misleading claims regarding the results of UPSC CSE 2020.
- India and Indonesia exchanged agreements in the fields of Health Cooperation, Traditional Medicine, Maritime Safety and Security, Cultural Exchange and Digital Development. Third India-Indonesia CEO forum’s report was also presented.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that more than 360 Vibrant Villages will have 4G connectivity by June this year. Mr Shah said this while interacting with special guests from the Vibrant Villages in New Delhi.
International Updates
- Hamas has released four female Israeli soldiers held in Gaza as part of the ceasefire agreement, handing them over to Red Cross officials in Palestine Square in Gaza City.
- In a significant humanitarian gesture, Yemen’s Houthi rebels unilaterally released 153 war detainees. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) supported the operation, which aimed to bring relief and joy to families who have been anxiously waiting for the return of their loved ones.
- The Israeli government has said Israeli forces will remain in southern Lebanon beyond a 60-day deadline stipulated in a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah because its terms have not been fully implemented.
- In USA, the Senate has confirmed appointment of Pete Hegseth as the next U.S. Defence Secretary. The confirmation for appointment of Hegseth came after a 50-50 vote in the Senate.

- In the Australian Open Tennis women’s singles final, the 29-year-old American Madison Keys has claimed her long-awaited Grand Slam title, defeating two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling match that ended 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
- Indian Grandmaster Iniyan Panneerselvam has clinched the 9th Johor International Open chess tournament title in Malaysia with a dominating performance. Iniyan defeated Vietnamese GM Nguyen.
