National Updates

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has authorised the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs to issue joint instructions and orders for all three services. This is a major step towards modernisation and transformation of the Armed Forces.

• India welcomed the reports of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and the role played by the US and Qatar. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs has reiterated that there is no alternative to dialogue and diplomacy to address and resolve the multiple conflicts in the region.

• The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has carried out comprehensive surveillance at major airports, including Delhi and Mumbai. The surveillance revealed multiple deficiencies across the country’s aviation ecosystem.

• A total of 286 evacuees, including three Sri Lankans, and two Nepalese citizens, arrived at Delhi Airport from Iran last afternoon under Operation Sindhu.

• Election Commission has refuted senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of poll rigging during the Maharashtra Assembly election.

• रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ (सीडीएस) और सैन्य मामलों के विभाग के सचिव को तीनों सेवाओं के लिए संयुक्त निर्देश और आदेश जारी करने के लिए अधिकृत किया है। यह सशस्त्र बलों के आधुनिकीकरण और परिवर्तन की दिशा में एक बड़ा कदम है।
• भारत ने ईरान और इजरायल के बीच युद्ध विराम की रिपोर्टों तथा अमेरिका और कतर द्वारा निभाई गई भूमिका का स्वागत किया। एक बयान में विदेश मंत्रालय ने दोहराया है कि क्षेत्र में विभिन्न संघर्षों को सुलझाने के लिए बातचीत और कूटनीति के अलावा कोई विकल्प नहीं है।

International Updates

• Thailand has imposed restrictions on all travellers heading into Cambodia, as the two countries remain locked in a bitter border dispute. According to media reports, the ban applies to any vehicle or person attempting to cross into Cambodia from Thailand.

• The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has finally approved a $1.3 billion disbursement of the third and fourth tranches of Bangladesh’s $4.7 billion loan program. This amount, covering both the third and fourth tranches, is expected to be deposited into Bangladesh’s account on June 26.

• Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has granted special approval for the UN-flagged research vessel Dr Fridtjof Nansen to enter Sri Lankan waters, a Foreign Ministry official said, following repeated requests from the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

• The announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel has brought temporary relief to millions of civilians caught in the crossfire.

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (आईएमएफ) ने अंततः बांग्लादेश के 4.7 बिलियन डॉलर के ऋण कार्यक्रम की तीसरी और चौथी किश्त के 1.3 बिलियन डॉलर के वितरण को मंजूरी दे दी है। तीसरी और चौथी दोनों किस्तों को कवर करने वाली यह राशि २६ जून को बांग्लादेश के खाते में जमा होने की उम्मीद है।
• संयुक्त राष्ट्र के खाद्य एवं कृषि संगठन (एफएओ) के बार-बार अनुरोध के बाद विदेश मंत्रालय के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि श्रीलंका के राष्ट्रपति अनुरा कुमारा दिसानायके ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र ध्वज वाले अनुसंधान पोत डॉ. फ्रिडजॉफ नानसेन को श्रीलंकाई जलक्षेत्र में प्रवेश के लिए विशेष मंजूरी दे दी है।
