- The government has said that 16 lakh seven thousand new workers have been enrolled under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme in the month of November 2024. As per the provisional payroll data of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) released yesterday.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, Youth Exchange Programme cadets, tableaux artists and tribal guests of the Republic Day Celebrations 2025 at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, in New Delhi.

- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has said, there is no need to expedite a review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) which was proposed by her US counterpart Donald Trump.
- International travellers have been warned to expect disruptions at Australia’s major airports as ground workers strike. More than 1,000 ground workers employed by aviation services companies at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane airports reportedly staged four-hour work stoppages.
- Bangladesh’s economy is grappling with skyrocketing interest payments which ate up more than half of government revenue expenses during the first four months of the current fiscal year of 2024-25, according to data from the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh.
- Sri Lanka’s Deputy Finance Minister Anil Jayantha has said that an investigation has been initiated in the matter of the release of 323 red-flagged containers at the Colombo port. Addressing the Parliament, Mr Jayantha said that the containers were reportedly released following scans.
- A high-speed train project connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 30 minutes was announced by Etihad Rail. The train will travel at speeds of up to 350 km/h, dramatically reducing travel times and enhancing connectivity between the two emirates.
- In Ireland, Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin has been confirmed as the new Prime Minister after a vote in the Dail, the lower house of the Irish parliament.
