National Updates
- The first-ever Conference for Women Peacekeepers on the theme “Women in Peacekeeping: A Global South Perspective will take place in New Delhi from today. The two-day conference is being organised by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence.
- India has dispatched humanitarian assistance of 26 tons to Honduras in the wake of the recent Tropical storm SARA. External Affairs Ministry said that the consignment comprises medical supplies and disaster relief material including surgical supplies, glucometers, oximeters, gloves, syringes, etc.
- Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has left for an official four-day visit to France as part of efforts to bolster India-France defence cooperation. The Chief of the Army Staff will engage with the senior military leadership of France at Les Invalides in Paris today.
- In a landmark initiative, the Indian Navy has handed over decommissioned Landing Ship Tank INS Guldar to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) for conversion into India’s first underwater museum.
International Updates
- Israel has announced it is increasing its military operation in the occupied West Bank by sending in tanks and keeping troops in areas where Palestinians have fled. This would prevent tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians from returning.
- In Germany, voting is underway to decide who will govern the eurozone’s largest economy. It will decide the composition of the next Bundestag, the country’s lower house of parliament. Around 59 million Germans are eligible to vote in a snap election.
- In Bangladesh, the intern doctors at several medical college hospitals started a ‘complete shutdown’, demanding the fulfilment of their five-point demand, including reforms in the healthcare sector.
- Pakistan has warned that Afghan refugees not accepted for resettlement by the United States would be treated as illegal immigrants and face deportation.
- 22 Indian fishermen had been repatriated by Pakistan, they entered India from Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post. They were caught while fishing in 2021-22 when they inadvertently entered Pakistan waters.
- In Afghanistan, a women’s radio station is set to resume broadcasts after the Taliban lifted its suspension.
- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has criticized the Left, arguing that conservatives worldwide are unfairly portrayed as a threat to democracy.
- In the US, head of the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk, has announced that federal workers must document their activities from the past week or face resignation.

- Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has created history as he became the quickest batter to score 14,000 runs in One-Day Internationals during the ICC Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan in Dubai.
- In the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, India beats Pakistan by 6 wickets in a high-stakes Group A clash at the Dubai International Stadium.
- In the Hockey FIH Pro League, the Indian men’s and women’s teams secured impressive victories at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. India’s men’s team completed a clean sweep against Ireland with a commanding 4-NIL win.
