National Updates

  • Indian short film Anuja has achieved a significant milestone by securing a nomination in the Best Short Film (Live Action) category for the Oscars 2025. Anuja is directed by Adam J. Graves and Suchitra Mattai.
  • Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar urged Election Management Bodies to streamline strategies for addressing challenges like cybersecurity threats and misinformation. He said this while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day conference organized by the Election Commission of India.
  • Department of Consumer Affairs has issued notices seeking responses from two leading private cab aggregators for charging different prices based on different models of mobiles.
  • Prayagraj Railway Division has rolled out extensive plans to run over 150 special Mela trains to accommodate the large influx of devotees expected at the Mahakumbh on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.
  • EAM Jaishankar clarifies, India is open to legitimate return of undocumented Indians living abroad, including in United States.

International Updates

  • Russia has said that it remains ready for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue regarding its conflict with Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is waiting for signals that have yet to arrive
  • The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the interim government led by Dr Yunus is failing to play a neutral role on several issues.
  • Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will be on a two-day visit to China starting on Sunday to hold a bilateral meeting. It will be a meeting of the Foreign Secretary-Vice Minister mechanism between India and China.

  • The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig. (Dr.) B. D Mishra kickstarted the opening ceremony of the 5th edition of Khelo India Winter Games at NDS Ice Hockey Stadium Leh.
  • In the ICC Under-19 Women’s Cricket T20 World Cup, defending champions India defeated Sri Lanka by 60 runs in their third and final Group A fixture in Kuala Lumpur . With their third win on the trot, India also finished Group A on top of the table with six points.
  • In the thrilling Indonesia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy faced off against the Thai duo Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh, in the Men’s Doubles round of 16 match.
