• Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has said that India-UK Free Trade Agreement paves way for actionable cooperation in trade, technology, and mobility. Addressing India Global Forum 2025 in London,

• As part of Operation Sindhu, the Government has decided to evacuate Indian nationals from Israel. India has launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate its nationals from Iran in view of the deteriorating situation due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

• The three-member panel formed to investigate the allegations of cash discovery at the residence of Justice Yashwant Varma, has concluded that there was sufficient substance to initiate proceedings for the removal of the former Delhi High Court judge.

• The Ministry of Culture will mark the 11th International Day of Yoga by organizing yoga sessions at 100 tourist-based iconic destinations and 50 more cultural sites across the country.

• Voting in the by-elections for five assembly seats across four states Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab, and West Bengal has concluded peacefully. In Gujarat, Visavadar seat has recorded over 54 percent voter turnout, while the Kadi assembly constituency has registered over 54 percent till 5 PM.

• The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Science, Delhi, will undertake a competition for drug development for the treatment of sickle cell disease, which disproportionately affects India’s tribal populations.

• Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu reviewed the safety aspects, passenger facilitation and airline performance during his meeting with the senior officials of the Civil Aviation Ministry and senior representatives of Airlines operators.

• The Defence Ministry has initiated a comprehensive review of the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020 to align it with existing policies and initiatives. A Committee headed by the Director General (Acquisition) has been constituted to carry out extensive deliberations with all stakeholders.

• ऑपरेशन सिंधु के तहत सरकार ने भारतीय नागरिकों को इजराइल से निकालने का फैसला किया है। ईरान और इजरायल के बीच चल रहे संघर्ष के कारण बिगड़ती स्थिति को देखते हुए भारत ने ईरान से अपने नागरिकों को निकालने के लिए ऑपरेशन सिंधु शुरू किया है।
• न्यायमूर्ति यशवंत वर्मा के आवास पर नकदी बरामद होने के आरोपों की जांच के लिए गठित तीन सदस्यीय पैनल ने निष्कर्ष निकाला है कि दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के पूर्व न्यायाधीश को हटाने के लिए कार्यवाही शुरू करने के लिए पर्याप्त सबूत मौजूद थे।
• संस्कृति मंत्रालय देश भर में 100 पर्यटक-आधारित प्रतिष्ठित स्थलों और 50 से अधिक सांस्कृतिक स्थलों पर योग सत्र आयोजित करके 11वें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस को चिह्नित करेगा।

International Updates

• The confrontation between Israel and Iran has entered its seventh day, as Iranian missiles caused serious damage at several sites in central and southern Israel, while Israeli forces are reported to have attacked Iran’s Arak heavy water nuclear reactor.

• The Bangladesh government appointed Secretary Asad Alam Siam, who served as Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States, as the Foreign Secretary of the country, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

• The 8th edition of the biennial Indo-French Joint Military Exercise SHAKTI commenced at La Cavalerie, France. The Indian Army contingent, comprising 90 personnel, is primarily represented by a battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, along with personnel from other arms and services.

• The US Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has kept interest rates unchanged for the fourth consecutive time at a 4.25 per cent to 4.5 per cent range in its latest meeting. The American central bank has maintained the same level since December 2024 amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

• UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has reiterated his call for an immediate de-escalation of the Israeli-Iran conflict and a ceasefire. Expressing concern over the ongoing escalation, Guterres appealed to avoid further internationalisation of the conflict.

• Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to mediate to end the conflict between Israel and Iran.
