• External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met Foreign Affairs Minister of Netherland, Casper Veldkamp in The Hague in Netherlands. In a social media post, Dr S Jaishankar said that he had wide-ranging discussions on deepening the bilateral partnership of both countries.

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the new Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Portal in New Delhi. The new portal will provide enhanced functionality, advanced security, and a user-friendly experience for the existing over 5 million OCI cardholders and new users.

• Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Current Foreign Policy Developments regarding India and Pakistan. Sources said, he briefed the Committee, headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, regarding Operation Sindoor and the subsequent ceasefire.

• Union Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh launched an e-book of the electronic Civil List, 2025- a digital compendium of serving Indian Administrative Service officers.

• केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने नई दिल्ली में नया ओवरसीज सिटीजन ऑफ इंडिया (ओसीआई) पोर्टल लॉन्च किया। नया पोर्टल मौजूदा 5 मिलियन से अधिक ओसीआई कार्डधारकों और नए उपयोगकर्ताओं के लिए उन्नत कार्यक्षमता, उन्नत सुरक्षा और उपयोगकर्ता-अनुकूल अनुभव प्रदान करेगा।

International Updates

• A volcano in eastern Indonesia erupted, emitting an ash cloud more than half a mile high. Authorities placed the surrounding area on the highest level of alert and warned of another powerful eruption.

• The United Kingdom and European Union have reached a deal on food, fishing access, defence, and UK travellers’ access to eGates. At a summit in London, the new deal includes the announcement of a new security and defence partnership.

• Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with a relatively aggressive form of prostate cancer. His office said in a statement that Mr Biden’s cancer is characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.

• Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has called for reaching an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid into the war-torn enclave during a meeting with a visiting US official.

• The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department has condemned the intensifying wave of forced disappearances in Balochistan by the Pakistan government, calling it a crime against humanity.

• South Korea and the United States are scheduled to hold a second round of technical discussions in Washington this week on tariffs. Officials said the two sides are working toward forging a package deal by early July.  

• In European politics, pro-European Union candidates and parties have made notable gains in Romania, Poland and Portugal in the elections held over the weekend.

• Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia said that any matter related to participation in events of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has not come up for discussion at any level.
