National updates

• Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has ordered the constitution of an Inter-Ministerial Team to ascertain the cause of deaths in Jammu’s Rajouri district. The team led by the Ministry of Home Affairs will visit the affected village today to ascertain the causes of deaths.
• The BCCI has announced the 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England. Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been named in India’s squad.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 65 lakh property cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme to property owners through video conferencing. The property cards have been distributed in over 50 thousand villages across ten states and two Union Territories.
• The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has announced the launch of the Internet Governance Internship and Capacity Building scheme. The Program will offer a bi-annual internship with two parallel tracks, a six-month and a three-month program.
• India and USA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and information sharing on cyber threat intelligence and digital forensics in criminal investigations.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on Akashvani today. It will be the 118th episode of the monthly radio programme.

International Updates

• In Iran, two judges were killed in a shooting attack at the Supreme Court building in Tehran. State media reported that three Supreme Court judges were targeted. Two were killed on the spot, and one other judge was injured.
• Three people have been killed in a Russian airstrike on Kyiv overnight. Ukrainian officials said a metro station and a water pipe were also damaged.
• In Bangladesh, the constitution reform commission, appointed by the Nobel Peace laureate Dr Mohammad Yunus administration, recommended the removal of “secularism”, “nationalism” and “socialism” from the Constitution.
• The US Supreme Court has upheld a federal law proposing a nationwide ban on Video-sharing platform TikTok beginning today unless the Chinese-owned social media is sold to a US-based owner.
• Israel will release 735 Palestinian prisoners during the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal that it agreed with Hamas.

Sports Updates

• In India Open Badminton, the Indian challenge has come to an end after the duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty faced a setback defeat in the men’s doubles semifinal. They lost to the Malaysian pair of Nur Izzuddin and Goh Sze Fei.
• In the Kho Kho World Cup 2025, the Indian women’s team continued their winning streak and secured a spot in the finals. They defeated South Africa by a commanding margin of 66:16 in the semifinal match.
