National Updates
• The Second India-Iran-Armenia trilateral consultations were held in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said that discussions were held on connectivity initiatives, engagement in multilateral fora, and regional developments
• The 9th India-Thailand defence dialogue was held in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary of International Cooperation Amitabh Prasad and Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence Gen Tharapong Malakam.
• Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh chaired the second annual general meeting of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) Society in New Delhi.
• Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal has informed that the eCourts Mission Mode Project is under implementation for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development of the Indian Judiciary
• Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy today unveiled the Taxonomy of Green Steel for India in New Delhi, in the presence of Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma.
• The Lok Sabha today passed the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The Bill amends the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and intended to strengthen the efficient working of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMA).
• The Supreme Court ordered that no fresh suits would be registered under the Places of Worship Act in the country. It also ordered that in the pending cases, no final or effective orders would be passed till further orders of the Apex Court.
• The number of registered enterprises on MSME Udyam portal has increased from 1.65 crores on 31st March 2023 to 5.60 crores on 30th November this year.
• Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has highlighted that the country’s domestic tourist visits increased from nearly 120 crore in 2014 to 250 crore in 2023
• President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Honorary Rank of General of the Indian Army on General Ashok Raj Sigdel at an Investiture Ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan
• In Jammu and Kashmir, a Pakistani intruder was apprehended by the Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district.
• The World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo 2024 officially commenced at Dehradun in Uttarakhand with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurating the event at the Parade Ground.

International Updates
• India has joined 157 other nations in supporting a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution demanding an ‘immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in the war-torn Gaza Strip
• Han Dong-hoon, the chief of South Korea’s ruling People Power Party (PPP) expressed support for impeaching President Yoon Suk Yeol over his declaration of martial law last week, calling on his party’s lawmakers to vote based on their own conviction
• In a move to showcase India’s rich textile heritage and expand its global market presence, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, has launched the Hathkargha exhibition in Dubai.
• In Bangladesh, Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Court has accepted the petition filed by a senior Lawyer Rabindra Ghosh to expedite Chinmoy Krishna Das’s bail application.
• Maldives has invited bids for installing a wind-energy power generation system in Noonu Atoll, Manadhoo, under the ASSURE project. The initiative aims to expand renewable energy infrastructure in the island nation.
• United Nations General Assembly has voted to demand an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire between Israel and militants Hamas in the Gaza Strip. It also demanded immediate release of all hostages.

Sports Updates
• National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), New Delhi has received the approval from World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as an Athlete Passport Management Unit to manage Athlete Biological Passport.
• Indian Grandmaster Dommaraju Gukesh became the youngest chess champion in the world. Gukesh made history as he clinched 18th World Chess Championship defeating Ding Liren of China in the 14th and the final match of the FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore.
• Prasar Bharati has signed an MoU with Hockey India in New Delhi, to provide a live broadcast of the upcoming Hockey India League. With this MoU, Doordarshan has become the official broadcast partner for Hockey India League 2024-25.
• International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 Men’s Football World Cup, while Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 tournament.
• Khelo India Winter Games 2025 will be held in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir in two separate phases. Ladakh will host the ice events, including ice hockey and ice skiing, from 23rd to 27th of January.
