• Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that personal details that are subject to disclosure under various laws will continue to be disclosed under the RTI Act after the implementation of the new data protection rule.

• Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia, conferred an Honorary Doctorate (Dr. h. c.) to President Droupadi Murmu in recognition of her distinguished career in public service, social justice, and advocacy for education and women’s empowerment.

• The National Investigation Agency (NIA) successfully secured the extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the mastermind of the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, after years of sustained and concerted efforts to bring the key conspirator behind the 2008 mayhem to justice.

• President Droupadi Murmu, currently on an official visit to Slovakia, inaugurated the Slovak-India Business Forum in Bratislava . The event was also attended by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár.

• Centre has enhanced the material cost by 9.50 percent under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) Scheme. The scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme under which hot cooked meals are served to over eleven crore students studying in Balvatika and classes 1 to 8 in government and government aided schools.

• India’s goods and services exports have crossed a record 820 billion US dollars in the financial year 2024-25, despite economic uncertainties in global markets.

• The Supreme Court will hear petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, on the 16th of this month. A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justices Sanjay Kumar and KV Vishwanathan will hear the case.

• Central government has appointed Narender Mann, Advocate, as special public prosecutor for conducting trial and other matters in 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana case.

• केंद्रीय मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा है कि व्यक्तिगत विवरण जो विभिन्न कानूनों के तहत प्रकटीकरण के अधीन हैं, नए डेटा संरक्षण नियम के लागू होने के बाद आरटीआई अधिनियम के तहत खुलासा किया जाना जारी रहेगा।
• स्लोवाकिया के नाइट्रा में कॉन्स्टेंटाइन द फिलॉसफर यूनिवर्सिटी ने सार्वजनिक सेवा, सामाजिक न्याय और शिक्षा और महिला सशक्तिकरण की वकालत में उनके विशिष्ट करियर की मान्यता में राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू को मानद डॉक्टरेट (डॉ। एचसी) से सम्मानित किया।
• राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी (एनआईए) ने 2008 की तबाही के पीछे के प्रमुख साजिशकर्ता को न्याय के कटघरे में लाने के वर्षों के निरंतर और ठोस प्रयासों के बाद, 26/11 के घातक मुंबई आतंकवादी हमलों के मास्टरमाइंड तहव्वुर हुसैन राणा का प्रत्यर्पण सफलतापूर्वक हासिल कर लिया।

• वैश्विक बाजारों में आर्थिक अनिश्चितताओं के बावजूद, भारत का माल और सेवा निर्यात वित्त वर्ष २०२४-२५ में रिकॉर्ड ८२० बिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर को पार कर गया है।
• वक्फ (संशोधन) अधिनियम, २०२५ की संवैधानिक वैधता को चुनौती देने वाली याचिकाओं पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट इस महीने की १६ तारीख को सुनवाई करेगा। चीफ जस्टिस ऑफ इंडिया संजीव खन्ना और जस्टिस संजय कुमार और केवी विश्वनाथन की पीठ इस मामले की सुनवाई करेगी।
• केंद्र सरकार ने २६/११ मुंबई आतंकी हमले के आरोपी तहव्वुर राणा मामले में मुकदमा चलाने और अन्य मामलों के लिए नरेंद्र मान, एडवोकेट को विशेष लोक अभियोजक नियुक्त किया है।

International Updates

• The European Union announced that it would suspend its retaliatory tariff on US goods for 90 days after American President Donald Trump imposed a similar pause on levies.

• China has stated that it does not seek conflict with the United States over the tariff issue. Responding to questions about the newly imposed US levies, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China will not sit back and allow the legitimate rights and interests of its people.

• In its latest Development Outlook report, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has downgraded Bangladesh’s growth forecast to 3.9% for the current fiscal year 2024-25 – down from 5.1% in its September 2024 forecast and a steep drop from 6.6% projected in April 2024.

• In Yemen, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Tariq Saleh has called on the international community to bolster support for the Yemeni government in countering threats posed by the Houthi militias.
