National Updates

• A total of 278 kilometres of Railways lines have been commissioned in the North Eastern Region till March this year with an expenditure of 41 thousand 676 crore rupees. This was stated by the Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply in the Lok Sabh.

• India reiterated its response against the United States additional tariff imposition saying that the actions are unfair, unjustified and unreasonable. This comes after United States President Donald Trump imposed an additional tariff of 25 per cent on India.

• The Ministry of Ayush in collaboration with the World Health Organization today hosted the inaugural session of the WHO -International Regulatory Cooperation for Herbal Medicines Workshop in Ghaziabad.

• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that around 190 people have been rescued from disaster-hit Dharali village of Uttarkashi district after a devastating cloudburst yesterday triggered massive flash floods over Kheer ganga river in the region.

• India and Russia reaffirmed their strategic partnership and shared commitment to deepen industrial and economic cooperation. The two sides welcomed enhanced engagement in aluminium, fertilisers, and railway transport, alongside capacity building and technology transfer in mining sector.

• Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that 43 OTT platforms have been blocked for displaying obscene content.

• The Parliament has passed the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025, with the Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday. The Bill has already been passed by the Lok Sabha. The Bill seeks to replace the Indian Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1925.

• India’s premier classical chess tournament, Chennai Grand Masters 2025, has been postponed till today after a fire incident at the Hyatt Regency Chennai last night.

• इस वर्ष मार्च तक पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में कुल 278 किलोमीटर रेलवे लाइनें चालू की गई हैं, जिस पर 41 हजार 676 करोड़ रुपये का व्यय हुआ है। रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने लोकसभा में लिखित जवाब में यह बात कही।
• भारत ने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका द्वारा अतिरिक्त टैरिफ लगाए जाने के खिलाफ अपनी प्रतिक्रिया दोहराते हुए कहा कि ये कार्रवाई अनुचित, अनुचित और अविवेकपूर्ण है। यह कदम संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प द्वारा भारत पर 25 प्रतिशत का अतिरिक्त टैरिफ लगाए जाने के बाद उठाया गया है।
• आयुष मंत्रालय ने विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के सहयोग से आज गाजियाबाद में डब्ल्यूएचओ-हर्बल दवाओं के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नियामक सहयोग कार्यशाला के उद्घाटन सत्र की मेजबानी की।
• उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि क्षेत्र में खीर गंगा नदी पर कल विनाशकारी बादल फटने से आई भीषण बाढ़ के बाद उत्तरकाशी जिले के आपदाग्रस्त धाराली गांव से करीब १९० लोगों को बचाया गया है।
• भारत और रूस ने औद्योगिक और आर्थिक सहयोग को गहरा करने के लिए अपनी रणनीतिक साझेदारी और साझा प्रतिबद्धता की पुष्टि की। दोनों पक्षों ने खनन क्षेत्र में क्षमता निर्माण और प्रौद्योगिकी हस्तांतरण के साथ-साथ एल्युमीनियम, उर्वरक और रेलवे परिवहन में बढ़ी हुई भागीदारी का स्वागत किया।
• सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा है कि अश्लील सामग्री प्रदर्शित करने के कारण 43 ओटीटी प्लेटफार्मों को ब्लॉक कर दिया गया है।
• संसद ने समुद्री मार्ग से माल परिवहन विधेयक, 2025 पारित कर दिया है, जिसे राज्यसभा ने कल मंजूरी दे दी। यह विधेयक लोकसभा द्वारा पहले ही पारित किया जा चुका है। यह विधेयक भारतीय समुद्री माल परिवहन अधिनियम, 1925 को प्रतिस्थापित करने का प्रयास करता है।
• भारत का प्रमुख शास्त्रीय शतरंज टूर्नामेंट, चेन्नई ग्रैंड मास्टर्स 2025, कल रात हयात रीजेंसी चेन्नई में आग लगने की घटना के बाद आज तक के लिए स्थगित कर दिया गया है।

International updates

• National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held a meeting with senior Russian officials in Moscow to discuss India-Russia defence and security cooperation. The visit comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has announced that he will increase tariffs on Indian goods.

• Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff at the Kremlin in Moscow. .According to the Russian Presidential Press Service, the meeting between Putin and Witkoff lasted about three hours.

• The United Nations has called reports of a possible Israeli military expansion across the Gaza Strip deeply alarming, if true. At a UN Security Council meeting, Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenca warned that such action could have catastrophic consequences and could further endanger the lives of the local residents.

• Taiwan says it has detected heightened Chinese military activity near its territorial waters. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence posted on social media platform X that 16 Chinese military aircraft, six naval vessels, and a government ship are operating around Taiwan.

• The Pakistan government has announced that the formal repatriation and deportation of over 1.3 million Afghan refugees holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards will begin on September 1.

• Citizens of Malawi and Zambia will have to pay a $15,000 deposit for applying for a tourist or business visa to the US. The programme aims to curb visa overstays.

• राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार (एनएसए) अजीत डोभाल ने भारत-रूस रक्षा और सुरक्षा सहयोग पर चर्चा करने के लिए मास्को में वरिष्ठ रूसी अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की। यह यात्रा ऐसे समय में हो रही है जब अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प ने घोषणा की है कि वह भारतीय वस्तुओं पर टैरिफ बढ़ाएंगे।
• रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन ने अमेरिका से मुलाकात की। मॉस्को में क्रेमलिन में राष्ट्रपति के विशेष दूत स्टीव विटकॉफ़। ।रूसी राष्ट्रपति प्रेस सेवा के अनुसार, पुतिन और विटकॉफ के बीच बैठक लगभग तीन घंटे तक चली।
• संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने गाजा पट्टी में संभावित इजरायली सैन्य विस्तार की रिपोर्टों को, यदि सच है तो, बेहद चिंताजनक बताया है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की बैठक में सहायक महासचिव मिरोस्लाव जेन्का ने चेतावनी दी कि इस तरह की कार्रवाई के भयावह परिणाम हो सकते हैं तथा स्थानीय निवासियों का जीवन और अधिक खतरे में पड़ सकता है।
• ताइवान का कहना है कि उसने अपने प्रादेशिक जल के निकट चीनी सैन्य गतिविधि में वृद्धि देखी है। ताइवान के राष्ट्रीय रक्षा मंत्रालय ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म एक्स पर पोस्ट किया कि 16 चीनी सैन्य विमान, छह नौसैनिक जहाज और एक सरकारी जहाज ताइवान के आसपास काम कर रहे हैं।
• पाकिस्तान सरकार ने घोषणा की है कि पंजीकरण प्रमाण (पीओआर) कार्ड रखने वाले 1.3 मिलियन से अधिक अफगान शरणार्थियों का औपचारिक प्रत्यावर्तन और निर्वासन 1 सितंबर से शुरू होगा।
• मलावी और जाम्बिया के नागरिकों को अमेरिका में पर्यटक या व्यावसायिक वीज़ा के लिए आवेदन करने हेतु 15,000 डॉलर की जमा राशि का भुगतान करना होगा। इस कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य वीज़ा अवधि से अधिक समय तक रुकने पर अंकुश लगाना है।
