- Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met Open AI CEO Sam Altman. Mr Vaishnaw said, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi guided them to democratise technology and Mr. Altman appreciated the Prime Minister’s vision.
- External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar today met UNGA President Philemon Yang in New Delhi. In a social media post, Dr Jaishankar said they discussed various issues on the UN agenda, including the need for reformed multilateralism.
- The Lok Sabha has adopted the Motion of thanks to the President’s address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament. The motion was adopted by a voice vote after the reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a security review meeting on the second consecutive day in Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi.

- Palestinian leaders, along with regional leaders from countries such as Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, have rejected US President Donald Trump’s recent proposal to have the United States “take over” the Gaza Strip, calling it a violation of Palestinian rights and international law.
- The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka observed the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) day in Colombo which was attended by ITEC alumni in huge numbers.
- The South Korean foreign and trade ministries blocked access to the Chinese artificial intelligence tool DeepSeek on ministry computers connected to external networks.
- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has committed an additional 1.7 billion dollars in funding to strengthen Medicare and support public hospitals across the country. This funding boost aims to reduce waiting times, cut waiting lists, and manage the pressure on emergency departments.
- The Aga Khan IV, the spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims, died at 88 in Portugal. He became an imam at age 20. He led the Aga Khan Development Network, improving health, education, and livelihoods in 30 countries.
- Singapore has passed a new law to safeguard racial harmony and protect against foreign interference.

- The Singapore Smash World Cup has been a stage for both triumph and heartbreak for India’s table tennis stars. Manush Shah and Manav Thakkar have successfully advanced to the men’s doubles quarterfinals after a dominant 3-0 victory over Wan-Chung-Ting and Yi-Kwan-To of Hong Kong in the pre-quarterfinals.
- In 38th National Games, Haryana’s Suruchi wins Gold medal in women’s 10 metre air pistol scoring 245.7 points. Haryana also bagged silver to secure the top position.
- In Cricket, the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal between defending champions Mumbai and Haryana has been moved from Lahli to Kolkata. The match will now be played at Eden Gardens from February 8 to 12.
- In the SA 20 Cricket League, MI Cape Town stormed into the finals beating Paarl Royals by 39 runs in the first Qualifier at St George’s Park in Gqeberha.
