National Updates

• The National Testing Agency, NTA, will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – NEET (UG) 2025 today across over five thousand centres in the country and 13 cities abroad.

• In the wake of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India has banned the entry of Pakistani ships at Indian ports. It has also prohibited Indian ships from visiting Pakistani ports.

• India has announced a defence credit line of 200 million dollars (in Indian Rupees) to support the modernisation of Angola’s armed forces. The announcement came following delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.

• Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. This was the first meeting of Mr Abdullah with Mr Modi since the terror attack in Pahalgam last month.

• Indian Railways has introduced a Bharat Gaurav Deluxe Train for Char Dham Yatra. The train will cover religious places like Badrinath, Joshimath, Rishikesh, Puri, Konark, Rameshwaram, and Dwarka.

• राष्ट्रीय परीक्षण एजेंसी, एनटीए, आज देश के पांच हजार से अधिक केंद्रों और विदेशों में 13 शहरों में राष्ट्रीय पात्रता-सह-प्रवेश परीक्षा – NEET (UG) 2025 आयोजित करेगी।
• पहलगाम में हाल ही में हुए एक आतंकवादी हमले के मद्देनजर भारत ने भारतीय बंदरगाहों पर पाकिस्तानी जहाजों के प्रवेश पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है। इसने भारतीय जहाजों को पाकिस्तानी बंदरगाहों पर जाने से भी मना किया है।
• भारत ने अंगोला के सशस्त्र बलों के आधुनिकीकरण का समर्थन करने के लिए 200 मिलियन डॉलर (भारतीय रुपये में) की रक्षा क्रेडिट लाइन की घोषणा की है। यह घोषणा प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और अंगोला के राष्ट्रपति जोआओ मैनुअल गोंकाल्वेस लौरेंको के बीच प्रतिनिधिमंडल स्तर की वार्ता के बाद हुई।

• भारतीय रेलवे ने चार धाम यात्रा के लिए भारत गौरव डीलक्स ट्रेन पेश की है। ट्रेन बद्रीनाथ, जोशीमठ, ऋषिकेश, पुरी, कोणार्क, रामेश्वरम, और द्वारका जैसे धार्मिक स्थलों को कवर करेगी।

International Updates

• Russia has declared a state of emergency in the port city of Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar region, claiming an attack by Ukraine that damaged apartment buildings in a residential complex.

• Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, has won with a larger majority in the federal election. The Labour Party has secured at least 84 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives. The Liberal-National Party has locked about 33, with votes still being counted.

• The US has approved an F-16 fighter jet training and sustainment package worth 310 million dollars for Ukraine. The Pentagon announced that the package includes aircraft modifications, flight training, maintenance support, spare parts, ground handling equipment, and specialized software systems.

• The voting in Singapore’s election has ended. This election is a significant moment for Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, as he faces his first big challenge from a stronger opposition. A total of 211 candidates, including two independents, are contesting the 97 elected parliamentary seats.

• The White House has confirmed a military parade will be held to mark the US Army’s 250th anniversary on 14 June next month, which falls on the same day as President Donald Trump’s birthday.

• At the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Awards 2025, Subhasish Bose was named the Men’s Player of the Year, while Soumya Guguloth took home the Women’s Player of the Year award for the 2024-25 season.
