National Updates

  • India’s ambitious mission to send scientists to explore the depths of the ocean in specially-designed submersible Samudrayaan got a boost with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocating Rs 600 crore for the Deep Ocean Mission.
  • The Embassy of India in Kinshasa has advised all Indian nationals residing in Congo’s Bukavu to immediately depart to safer locations by whatever means available while the airports, borders and commercial routes are still open.
  • The Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhawan is open for public viewing from today to 30th March. President Droupadi Murmu graced the opening of the Amrit Udyan Winter Annuals Edition 2025 yesterday.
  • The National Green Tribunal has sought a response from the Centre on two highly-invasive and alien fish species being used as biological agents for controlling mosquitoes.
  • The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear today a plea seeking implementation of specific guidelines and regulations to ensure safety of devotees attending the Maha Kumbh where at least 30 people were killed and 60 injured in a stampede on Wednesday this week.
  • Railways will operate more than 400 Mahakumbh mela special trains from various railway stations in Prayagraj on the occasion of 3rd amrit snan on Basant Panchami. This will provide seamless connectivity and uninterrupted travel for millions of pilgrims.

International Updates

  • At least 773 people have been killed in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) largest city of Goma and its vicinity in a week, amid fighting with Rwanda-backed M23 rebels.
  • Japan successfully launches navigation satellite on new flagship H3 rocket
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, he will discuss the victory over Hamas, countering Iran and expanding diplomatic relations with Arab countries in his meeting with US President Donald Trump.
  • In Australia, thousands have been forced to flee their homes after torrential rainfall has caused flooding in northern Queensland. Authorities confirmed the death of a woman
  • The Israeli military said that it has expanded its major campaign in the northern occupied West Bank. Overnight, Israeli troops raided the town of Tammun, north of Nablus, where an Israeli airstrike killed 10 militants last week.
  • In response to tariffs imposed by United States President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced 25% tariffs on 155 billion dollars worth of American goods.

Sports Updates

  • In Men’s Cricket, India defeated England by 150 runs in the fifth and final T20 International match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and won the series by 4-1.
  • Uttar Pradesh Men’s Kabaddi Team defeated Chandigarh 57-43 in Dehradun to win gold medal in National Games 2025 for the 2nd time in 3 Years.
  • India thrashed Togo 4-0 in the play-off tie at the DLTA Stadium in New Delhi to keep their place in the Davis Cup World Group. Karan Singh, playing his Davis Cup debut, defeated Hod’abalo Isak Padio 6-2, 6-3 to wrap up the tie 4-0.
  • Asian Games bronze-winning shooter Ashi Chouksey of Madhya Pradesh broke the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions national record on her way to the gold medal at the 38th National Games in Dehradun.
  • India has defended their ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title, beating South Africa by 9 wickets in the final match at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • Veteran Indian Cricketer and Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar has been honoured with the Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
