National Updates

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the 46th edition of PRAGATI, an ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Centre and State governments.

• The Government decided to include the caste enumeration in the forthcoming census exercise. The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a decision in this regard.

• Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has called for a dynamic curriculum in view of changing governance landscape. He made these remarks while delivering the convocation address of the 50th Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) in New Delhi.

• The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Indian Army have spoken to the Pakistani DGMO and warned against any unprovoked violations by the Pakistani Army along the Line of Control.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s first-of-its-kind World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai today.

• The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has dismantled the cybercrime networks of online child sexual exploitation with international linkages. CBI took the action under the operation Hawk, which was launched on the basis of inputs received from the USA.

• Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma took over as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Udhampur-based Northern Army Command. Mr. Sharma is replacing Lieutenant General MV Suchendra Kumar after his 15-month tenure in office.

• सरकार ने आगामी जनगणना अभ्यास में जाति गणना को शामिल करने का निर्णय लिया। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में राजनीतिक मामलों की मंत्रिमंडलीय समिति ने इस संबंध में निर्णय लिया है।

• भारतीय सेना के सैन्य संचालन महानिदेशक (डीजीएमओ) ने पाकिस्तानी डीजीएमओ से बात की है और नियंत्रण रेखा पर पाकिस्तानी सेना द्वारा किसी भी अकारण उल्लंघन के खिलाफ चेतावनी दी है।
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी आज मुंबई के जियो वर्ल्ड कन्वेंशन सेंटर में भारत के अपनी तरह के पहले वर्ल्ड ऑडियो विजुअल एंटरटेनमेंट समिट (वेव्स) २०२५ का उद्घाटन करेंगे।
• केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो (सीबीआई) ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय संबंधों के साथ ऑनलाइन बाल यौन शोषण के साइबर अपराध नेटवर्क को नष्ट कर दिया है। सीबीआई ने ऑपरेशन हॉक के तहत कार्रवाई की, जिसे यूएसए से प्राप्त इनपुट के आधार पर शुरू किया गया था।
• लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल प्रतीक शर्मा ने उधमपुर स्थित उत्तरी सेना कमान के नए कमांडर-इन-चीफ के रूप में पदभार संभाला। श्री शर्मा कार्यालय में अपने १५ महीने के कार्यकाल के बाद लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एमवी सुचेन्द्र कुमार की जगह ले रहे हैं।

• In Bangladesh, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the HC order that had granted bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote and a former Iskcon leader, in a sedition case.

• Former Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has paid 1 million Sri Lankan rupees in compensation ordered by Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court. The court had ordered the compensation following the annulment of the presidential pardon granted to Jude Shramantha Jayamaha.

• US President Donald Trump has said that talks with India on tariffs are going great and the two countries will reach a trade agreement soon.

• बांग्लादेश में, सुप्रीम कोर्ट के अपीलीय प्रभाग ने बुधवार को एचसी के उस आदेश पर रोक लगा दी, जिसमें बांग्लादेश सम्मेलन सनातन जागरण जोटे के प्रवक्ता और इस्कॉन के पूर्व नेता चिन्मय कृष्ण दास ब्रह्मचारी को राजद्रोह के एक मामले में जमानत दी गई थी।
• श्रीलंका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति मैत्रीपाला सिरिसेना ने श्रीलंका के सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा आदेशित मुआवजे में 1 मिलियन श्रीलंकाई रुपये का भुगतान किया है। अदालत ने जूड श्रमंथा जयमाहा को दी गई राष्ट्रपति की माफी को रद्द करने के बाद मुआवजे का आदेश दिया था।
• अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ने कहा है कि भारत के साथ टैरिफ पर बातचीत शानदार चल रही है और दोनों देश जल्द ही एक व्यापार समझौते पर पहुंचेंगे।

• Former national shooting coach and Dronacharya awardee Prof. Sunny Thomas, who played a pivotal role in transforming the country into a shooting powerhouse, passed away at Uzhavoor in Kottayam district.

• Cricket has been retained for Asian Games 2026, while Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is set to make its debut at the continental meet. The Asian Games 2026 are scheduled to be held in the Aichi and Nagoya prefectures of Japan from September 19 to October 4.

• India’s top cueist Pankaj Advani began his campaign in a commanding manner, beating Tathya Sachdev 860-170 in the CCI Billiards Classic competition in Mumbai.
