National Updates

  • Indian Naval Ship Trishul, a frontline guided-missile stealth frigate, reached Valencia, Spain, on the 30th of September as part of her ongoing deployment to the Mediterranean, Atlantic and adjoining maritime regions.

  • Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas, CAQM yesterday reviewed the enforcement actions, inspections and compliance status across the National Capital Region for the reporting period between 8th to 24th September.

  • Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called for a WTO-compliant approach to correcting global trade distortions on the concluding day of the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee, US.

  • The 8th edition of the e-auction of gifts presented to the Prime Minister has been extended until 31st of October. The Culture Ministry said this edition features 30 different mementos showcasing the diverse dimensions of Delhi. The 30 mementos include nine photo frames, nine mementos, and six idols.

International Updates

  • The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has claimed more than 4,000 lives, with health authorities reporting 4,018 deaths among 8,300 confirmed cases across seven provinces.

  • G7 countries have agreed to release up to 100 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves over four months in a coordinated effort to bring down soaring energy prices, with a particular focus on diesel.

  • Yemen said its forces carried out 20 strikes against Houthi targets in Taiz province over a three-hour period. The Military spokesperson for Yemen’s internationally recognised government today said the strikes targeted Houthi movements, personnel, vehicles, and military equipment in the province.

  • The co-pilot accused of assaulting Captain Smit Machchhar has been transferred to Abu Dhabi. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), quoting an official source at the Saudi Ministry of Interior, reported that both pilots left the country for Abu Dhabi after receiving medical clearance.

  • The gold rush continued for India at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, as Indian athletes delivered a stellar performance on Day 13, clinching SIX gold medals – in Hockey, Boxing, Wrestling and Archery – in a spectacular display of skill, determination and sporting excellence.

  • British-Indian chess prodigy Bodhana Sivanandan has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the youngest chess player to achieve the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title. The 11-year-old London schoolgirl made history at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, becoming the youngest player.

  • Indian athletes continued their strong performance at the ongoing Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, winning several medals across multiple sporting events. In Boxing, Lovlina Borgohain clinched a historic gold medal in the women’s 75kg category, defeating China’s Bao Ziyi.

• भारतीय नौसेना का जहाज त्रिशूल, एक फ्रंटलाइन गाइडेड मिसाइल स्टील्थ फ्रिगेट, भूमध्य सागर, अटलांटिक और आसपास के समुद्री क्षेत्रों में अपनी चल रही तैनाती के हिस्से के रूप में 30 सितंबर को वालेंसिया, स्पेन पहुंचा।
• एनसीआर और निकटवर्ती क्षेत्रों में वायु गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन आयोग, सीएक्यूएम ने कल 8 से 24 सितंबर के बीच की रिपोर्टिंग अवधि के लिए राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र में प्रवर्तन कार्रवाइयों, निरीक्षणों और अनुपालन स्थिति की समीक्षा की।
• वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने अमेरिका के मिल्वौकी में जी-20 व्यापार मंत्रियों’ की बैठक के समापन दिवस पर वैश्विक व्यापार विकृतियों को ठीक करने के लिए विश्व व्यापार संगठन के अनुरूप दृष्टिकोण अपनाने का आह्वान किया है।
• प्रधानमंत्री को दिए गए उपहारों की ई-नीलामी के 8वें संस्करण को 31 अक्टूबर तक बढ़ा दिया गया है। संस्कृति मंत्रालय ने कहा कि इस संस्करण में दिल्ली के विविध आयामों को प्रदर्शित करने वाले ३० अलग-अलग स्मृति चिन्ह शामिल हैं। 30 स्मृति चिन्हों में नौ फोटो फ्रेम, नौ स्मृति चिन्ह और छह मूर्तियाँ शामिल हैं।

• कांगो लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य में चल रहे इबोला प्रकोप ने 4,000 से अधिक लोगों की जान ले ली है, स्वास्थ्य अधिकारियों ने सात प्रांतों में 8,300 पुष्ट मामलों में से 4,018 मौतों की सूचना दी है।
• जी-7 देशों ने ऊर्जा की बढ़ती कीमतों को कम करने के समन्वित प्रयास के तहत चार महीनों में रणनीतिक भंडार से 100 मिलियन बैरल तक तेल जारी करने पर सहमति व्यक्त की है, जिसमें डीजल पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जाएगा।
• यमन ने कहा कि उसकी सेना ने तीन घंटे की अवधि में ताइज़ प्रांत में हौथी ठिकानों पर 20 हमले किए। यमन की अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मान्यता प्राप्त सरकार के सैन्य प्रवक्ता ने आज कहा कि हमलों में प्रांत में हौथी आंदोलनों, कर्मियों, वाहनों और सैन्य उपकरणों को निशाना बनाया गया।
• कैप्टन स्मिट मच्छार पर हमला करने के आरोपी सह-पायलट को अबू धाबी स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया है। सऊदी प्रेस एजेंसी (एसपीए) ने सऊदी आंतरिक मंत्रालय के एक आधिकारिक सूत्र के हवाले से बताया कि दोनों पायलट चिकित्सा मंजूरी मिलने के बाद देश छोड़कर अबू धाबी चले गए।
