National Updates

  • Surgeons of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) carried out 220 sight-restoring surgeries during the 10th edition of first-of-its-kind Mega Eye Surgical Camp, held under Operation Drishti in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was held on the 24th and 25th of this month.

  • The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, celebrated its 20 years of service to India’s automotive industry. Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, were present on the occasion.

  • The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has released the 52nd monthly report on the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System of Central Ministries and Departments’ performance for the month of August. More than 2.42 lakh grievances were redressed.

  • The Centre has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, in ‘disturbed areas’ of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for a period of six months with effect from 1st of October.

  • The Ministry of Minority Affairs has signed multiple MoUs with IISc Bengaluru, IIM Bengaluru and CUBE of IIT Madras to strengthen monitoring, infrastructure quality, entrepreneurship and innovation among minority communities.

International Updates

  • External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar raised concerns over repeated attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers in the Gulf, Red Sea and Black Sea, saying that the attacks were no longer exceptional occurrences.

  • India’s growing participation of women across diverse vocational and technical skills is finding expression on the global stage at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, with 14 young women representing Team India across a wide spectrum of skill categories.

  • India has welcomed the commencement of the QUAD-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission, announced at the 11th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on 26th of May this year.

  • Secretary (West) in the External Affairs Ministry, Sibi George, delivered India’s statement at the High-Level Plenary Meeting on Addressing the Existential Threats Posed by Sea Level Rise at the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

  • US, Iran exploring phased deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz, say reports

  • The United States and Iran are reportedly exploring a phased path to end their conflict, with Iran proposing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in return for the lifting of the US blockade and other economic measures.

  • In the Asian Games, India’s overall medal tally has reached 23, with 2 Gold, 9 Silver and 12 Bronze in Japan. Indian duo Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won gold in the mixed team 10m air pistol event in Nagoya, Japan.

  • Indian athlete Baranica Elangovan won the bronze medal in the women’s pole vault at the Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan. This marks country’s first-ever medal in the pole vault event at the Asian Games.

  • Mizoram emerged champions in the North East Regional Muaythai Championship, with around 350 fighters from across the eight northeastern states competing in 100 categories.   • Indian squash players have assured themselves of three medals at the Asian Games, with Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar reaching the mixed doubles semifinals, while Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh entered the last four in singles.

• सशस्त्र बल चिकित्सा सेवा (एएफएमएस) के सर्जनों ने जम्मू और कश्मीर के कुपवाड़ा में ऑपरेशन दृष्टि के तहत आयोजित अपनी तरह के पहले मेगा आई सर्जिकल कैंप के 10वें संस्करण के दौरान 220 दृष्टि-पुनर्स्थापना सर्जरी कीं। यह ऑपरेशन इस महीने की २४ और २५ तारीख को हुआ था।
• इंटरनेशनल सेंटर फॉर ऑटोमोटिव टेक्नोलॉजी (आईसीएटी), मानेसर ने भारत के ऑटोमोटिव उद्योग में अपनी 20 साल की सेवा का जश्न मनाया। इस अवसर पर भारी उद्योग मंत्री एचडी कुमारस्वामी और भारी उद्योग राज्य मंत्री भूपति राजू श्रीनिवास वर्मा उपस्थित थे।
• प्रशासनिक सुधार एवं लोक शिकायत विभाग (डीएआरपीजी) ने अगस्त माह के लिए केंद्रीय मंत्रालयों एवं विभागों के केंद्रीकृत लोक शिकायत निवारण एवं निगरानी प्रणाली के प्रदर्शन पर 52वीं मासिक रिपोर्ट जारी की है। २.४२ लाख से अधिक शिकायतों का निवारण किया गया।
• केंद्र ने मणिपुर, नागालैंड और अरुणाचल प्रदेश के ‘अशांत क्षेत्रों’ में सशस्त्र बल (विशेष शक्तियां) अधिनियम, १९५८ को १ अक्टूबर से छह महीने की अवधि के लिए बढ़ा दिया है।
• अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्रालय ने अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों के बीच निगरानी, बुनियादी ढांचे की गुणवत्ता, उद्यमशीलता और नवाचार को मजबूत करने के लिए आईआईएससी बेंगलुरु, आईआईएम बेंगलुरु और आईआईटी मद्रास के सीयूबीई के साथ कई समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

• विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने खाड़ी, लाल सागर और काला सागर में वाणिज्यिक जहाजों और नाविकों पर बार-बार होने वाले हमलों पर चिंता जताते हुए कहा कि ये हमले अब कोई असाधारण घटना नहीं रह गए हैं।
• विविध व्यावसायिक और तकनीकी कौशल में महिलाओं की भारत की बढ़ती भागीदारी वर्ल्डस्किल्स शंघाई २०२६ में वैश्विक मंच पर अभिव्यक्ति पा रही है, जिसमें १४ युवा महिलाएं कौशल श्रेणियों के व्यापक स्पेक्ट्रम में टीम इंडिया का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रही हैं।
• भारत ने इस वर्ष 26 मई को नई दिल्ली में आयोजित 11वीं क्वाड विदेश मंत्रियों’ की बैठक में घोषित क्वाड-एट-सी शिप ऑब्जर्वर मिशन के प्रारंभ का स्वागत किया है।
• विदेश मंत्रालय में सचिव (पश्चिम) सिबी जॉर्ज ने न्यूयॉर्क में 81वीं संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा में समुद्र स्तर में वृद्धि से उत्पन्न अस्तित्वगत खतरों से निपटने पर उच्च स्तरीय पूर्ण बैठक में भारत का वक्तव्य दिया।
• रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, अमेरिका और ईरान होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य को पुनः खोलने के लिए चरणबद्ध समझौते पर विचार कर रहे हैं
