• The National Steering Committee (NSC) has approved 320 Crore rupees for Kurukshetra ITI cluster in Haryana under the PM SETU scheme. Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme is the government’s flagship initiative to raise the standard of vocational training.

• According to a report titled Semicon India 2.0 by Ernst & Young Global Limited and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), released during Semicon India 2026, India’s semiconductor market is projected to expand more than threefold from nearly 64 billion dollars in 2026.

• India and Canada have agreed to fast-track negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with the next round of talks set to commence 5th October

• The Defence Ministry today signed a contract with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited in New Delhi to procure Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for T-72 and T-90 Tanks at a cost of 586 crore rupees.

• The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released the publication Sources and Methods for Compilation of National Accounts Statistics, detailing the methodology behind the new series of National Accounts with base year 2022-23.

• Minister of State for Communications, Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani today reviewed the next phase of Samriddh Gram initiative with Department of Telecommunications, startups and service partners.

• The 18th edition of the India and Mongolia Joint Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT commenced today at the Foreign Training Node, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. It will continue till 3rd of next month.

• Google has been fined 403 million euros, or about 463 million US dollars, by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission for breaching European Union privacy rules over the handling of users’ location data. The investigation found that Google had not lawfully or transparently processed location information.

• Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held telephonic parleys with his counterparts in Kuwait, Egypt and Türkiye to discuss regional developments and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions amid Saudi-Houthi hostilities.

• Russian Central Election Commission said that the ruling United Russia party has won 57.83 per cent of the votes in the election for the 9th State Duma, the lower house of parliament. The results will help President Vladimir Putin maintain his tight grip on power.

• Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, younger brother of Ruler of Dubai and UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, passed away at the age of 76.The Dubai Media Office announced that an official mourning period of ten days has been declared across the emirates.

• India won three medals in shooting at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.In the men’s 10-meter air rifle individual event, Himanshu Dhillon won the silver medal, while Rudrankksh Patil secured the bronze. India also bagged a silver medal in the men’s team event of the same competition.

• India defeated Bangladesh 3-nil, without dropping a single game across three matches, to reach the Men’s Badminton team quarter-finals at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Japan. Lakshya Sen beat Jaman Ayman Ibn, followed by Ayush Shetty’s win over Gourab Singha.

• अर्न्स्ट एंड यंग ग्लोबल लिमिटेड और इंडिया इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एंड सेमीकंडक्टर एसोसिएशन (आईईएसए) द्वारा सेमीकॉन इंडिया 2.0 नामक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, जो सेमीकॉन इंडिया 2026 के दौरान जारी की गई थी, भारत के सेमीकंडक्टर बाजार के 2026 में लगभग 64 बिलियन डॉलर से तीन गुना से अधिक बढ़ने का अनुमान है।
