• The National Green Tribunal has issued notices to multiple agencies over pollution in the Yamuna River. The tribunal has sought responses from the National Mission for Clean Ganga, the Uttar Pradesh government, and local authorities, including the Mathura Vrindavan Nagar Nigam.

• The Election Commission has issued notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for violating the Model Code of Conduct for the use of derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Kharge had made these remarks during a press conference in Chennai.

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heat wave conditions over Gangetic West Bengal for today. The Met department said that heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh today.

• New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said that India has achieved a record addition of over six gigawatts in wind energy capacity during the last financial year. It marks the highest ever installed capacity in a single year.

• The government notified Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules 2026 which will come into force from 1st of the next month. The objective of the rules is to regulate online gaming and protect citizens, safeguard the financial system, enable coordinated enforcement, and uphold user rights.

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today held bilateral talks with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius in Berlin to bolster the strategic defence partnership with the European nation. The two Ministers discussed a range of bilateral security and defence matters including co-development and co-production of weapons.

• The government has constituted the Online Gaming Authority of India, comprising six members. According to a gazette notification of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the authority will consist Additional Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as Chairperson.

• Sri Lanka’s government has rejected media reports claiming plans to remove the leadership of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), asserting that no official discussions have taken place. Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said there had been no discussions by the government.

• Air China officially resumed direct flights between Beijing and Delhi. Spokesperson of Chinese Embassy in India, Yu Jing shared this in a social media post, saying that the skies are connected once again.

• The inaugural India-Japan Artificial Intelligence Strategic Dialogue was held in Mumbai where both sides engaged in substantive discussions on strategic cooperation across the entire AI stack. The Dialogue also explored avenues to strengthen international mobility of AI talent.

• President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel has designated Prime Minister Balendra Shah to assume the Home Ministry portfolio. Prime Minister Shah will look after the home ministry as well after Home Minister Sudhan Gurung resigned from his post according to the President’s Office.

• New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced that India and New Zealand are set to sign a long-awaited Free Trade Agreement (FTA) next week, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral economic ties.
