• India and Azerbaijan comprehensively reviewed the current state of bilateral relations, covering areas of mutual interest in Baku. They discussed trade, technology, tourism, pharmaceuticals, culture, people-to-people relations and the fight against cross-border terrorism.

• Parliament has passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, bringing major changes to how laws are enforced across the country. The new law aims to make life easier for businesses and citizens by reducing unnecessary penalties and simplifying rules.

• A 40-member team from National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in West Bengal’s Malda district to investigate the siege of seven judicial officials at the Kaliachak-II block development office earlier this week.

• The Indian Navy commissioned the stealth frigate INS Taragiri at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the ceremony. Built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, the warship is the fourth vessel under the Project 17A class.

• Industry bodies have welcomed the government’s decision to grant customs duty exemption on a wide range of critical petrochemical products. Talking to the media, CEO of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, Saharsh Damani, said that this is a pre-emptive step by the government.

• The Centre has asked the States and Union territories to take necessary action to curb malpractices such as hoarding and black marketing of LPG and other petroleum products. • Over 9,000 families have been forced to leave their homes due to the rocket attacks conducted by Pakistani forces on areas near the Durand Line in Afghanistan’s Kunar province.

• The United Nations Security Council is set to review a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain addressing maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said the move responds to Iran’s illegal attempts to control international shipping.

• Kuwait’s power and water desalination plant was targeted in an Iranian attack on Friday, resulting in material damage to parts of the facility. The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Engineer Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, confirmed the incident.

• In UAE, operations at ADNOC’s Habshan gas facilities were suspended after debris from a successfully intercepted aerial threat sparked a fire at the site. Abu Dhabi authorities confirmed emergency teams responded swiftly, containing the blaze with no injuries reported.

• President Donald Trump has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi, a longtime ally, from her post, saying she will be “transitioning” to a role in the private sector. Bondi’s tenure at the Justice Department was overshadowed by its handling of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
