National Updates

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today flag off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya) at Malda town railway station. He will also virtually flag off the Guwahati-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper.

• In view of deteriorating air quality in the national capital, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked stage three of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the entire NCR with immediate effect. The decision was taken after the Air Quality Index in the city recorded at 354.

• President Droupadi Murmu made the appointment of Praveen Vashista as Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions informed that Mr Vashista took the oath before the Central Vigilance Commissioner.

• The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Chandigarh Zonal Office, has provisionally attached movable and immovable properties worth 10.86 Crore rupees under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, in a land fraud case.

• The Government has blocked 242 illegal betting and gambling website links. Sources said that so far, over 7 thousand 800 illegal betting and gambling websites have been taken down, with a significant increase in enforcement actions after the passage of the Online Gaming Act.

• Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) exited the Jamaat-e-Islami-led electoral alliance and announced it will contest the 13th National Parliamentary Election independently in 268 constituencies, fracturing the Islamist bloc’s one-box strategy of single candidates.

• Global crude oil prices rose amid lingering supply risks despite easing concerns over a potential US military strike against Iran. Brent Crude was trading over 1.4 per cent up at 64 US dollars and 67 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude was also trading more than 1.4 per cent up at 60 US dollars.

• External Affairs Ministry has said that India is keeping a close eye on the prevailing situation in Iran. During a media briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India is committed to take whatever steps required in the interest of the Indian citizens living in that country.

• Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which they discussed the situation in West Asia and developments surrounding Iran.

• The United States has warned Iran that it is considering all possible measures to stop what it says is a violent crackdown on protesters. Speaking at an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council in New York last night, the US Permanent Representative Mike Waltz said this.

• राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में बिगड़ती वायु गुणवत्ता को देखते हुए, वायु गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन आयोग (सीएक्यूएम) ने तत्काल प्रभाव से पूरे एनसीआर में ग्रेडेड रिस्पांस एक्शन प्लान (जीआरएपी) के चरण तीन को लागू किया। यह निर्णय शहर में वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक 354 दर्ज होने के बाद लिया गया।
