National Updates

  • Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers JP Nadda has inaugurated the e-Bill System that will enable the government to process the fertilizer subsidies amounting to approximately 2 lakh crore rupees.

  • Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India is likely to receive its first Bullet Train on 15th August 2027. Briefing media in New Delhi, the Minister said India’s first bullet train project is under construction between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

  • All Indian exports will receive duty-free access in the Australian market under the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA). Under the agreement, 100 percent of Indian tariff lines will get duty-free access to the Australian market, benefiting key sectors.

  • The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that there has been no change in domestic LPG prices for household consumers. The clarification came following reports in some sections of the media that the price of commercial LPG cylinders has been increased by 111 rupees.

  • National Highways Authority of India announced discontinuation of the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) cards for cars for all new FASTag issuances with effect from 1st of the next month.

  • The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Prasar Bharati Gaurav Dwivedi launched two versions of the national song Vande Mataram at Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi. These are the first two renditions from the proposed set of 25 musical versions of the song to be presented by Akashvani.

International Updates

  • Bulgaria joined the eurozone and adopted the euro as its official currency on New Year’s Day, becoming the 21st member of the euro area. To ensure a smooth transition, the Bulgarian lev will remain in circulation alongside the euro throughout January.

  • The second edition of the joint military exercise Desert Cyclone between the Indian Army and the UAE Land Forces concluded with a closing ceremony at Al-Hamra Training City in Abu Dhabi on December 30, marking the successful completion of nearly two weeks of intensive bilateral training.

  • The Australian authorities have issued an emergency warning in view of life-threatening bushfire near the Perth Airport. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has said that the bushfire moving towards the northern direction posed a threat to lives and homes.

  • Iran has appointed a new central bank governor following the resignation of the incumbent amid mass protests triggered by a sharp fall in the national currency. The official IRNA news agency reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian’s Cabinet on Wednesday appointed Abdolnasser Hemmati as Governor.

केंद्रीय रसायन एवं उर्वरक मंत्री जेपी नड्डा ने ई-बिल प्रणाली का उद्घाटन किया है, जो सरकार को लगभग 2 लाख करोड़ रुपये की उर्वरक सब्सिडी का प्रसंस्करण करने में सक्षम बनाएगी।
• रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने घोषणा की कि भारत को 15 अगस्त 2027 को पहली बुलेट ट्रेन मिलने की संभावना है। नई दिल्ली में मीडिया को जानकारी देते हुए मंत्री ने कहा कि भारत की पहली बुलेट ट्रेन परियोजना अहमदाबाद और मुंबई के बीच निर्माणाधीन है।
• भारत-ऑस्ट्रेलिया आर्थिक सहयोग और व्यापार समझौते (ईसीटीए) के तहत सभी भारतीय निर्यातों को ऑस्ट्रेलियाई बाजार में शुल्क मुक्त पहुंच प्राप्त होगी। समझौते के तहत १०० प्रतिशत भारतीय टैरिफ लाइनों को ऑस्ट्रेलियाई बाजार में शुल्क मुक्त पहुंच मिलेगी, जिससे प्रमुख क्षेत्रों को लाभ होगा।
• पेट्रोलियम एवं प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्रालय ने स्पष्ट किया है कि घरेलू उपभोक्ताओं के लिए घरेलू एलपीजी की कीमतों में कोई बदलाव नहीं हुआ है। यह स्पष्टीकरण मीडिया के कुछ वर्गों में आई उन रिपोर्टों के बाद आया है जिनमें कहा गया था कि वाणिज्यिक एलपीजी सिलेंडरों की कीमत में 111 रुपये की वृद्धि की गई है।
• भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण ने अगले महीने की पहली तारीख से सभी नए फास्टैग जारी करने वाली कारों के लिए नो योर व्हीकल (केवाईवी) कार्ड बंद करने की घोषणा की।
• प्रसार भारती के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी एवं सीईओ गौरव द्विवेदी ने नई दिल्ली के आकाशवाणी भवन में राष्ट्रीय गीत वंदे मातरम के दो संस्करण लॉन्च किए। आकाशवाणी द्वारा प्रस्तुत किए जाने वाले गीत के 25 संगीत संस्करणों के प्रस्तावित सेट में से ये पहली दो प्रस्तुतियाँ हैं।
