International Student Day
International Student Day is celebrated all over the world on 17 November। The day was first celebrated in 1941 in memory of students who fell during protests in Czechoslovakia। According to the official website of the Organizing Bureau European School Students’ Union, in late 1939 many medical students from Charles University protested fiercely in the streets against the Nazis demanding the creation of an independent Czech Republic country। To suppress the voice of the students, the Nazis lathicharged them and even hanged some students।
‘Why is ‘International Student Solidarity Day’ celebrated only on 17th November..?

History 28 October 1939 A part of Czechoslovakia was occupied by the Nazis, in Praga, the capital of the same Czechoslovakia, students and teachers there organized a demonstration to mark the anniversary of the country’s founding। The Nazis opened fire on protesters like General Dyer fired in India, killing a medical student।
Demonstrations were also held at the time of the student’s funeral। As a result Nazi soldiers broke into the students’ dormitory on 17 November 1939 to arrest the protesters, arresting 1200 students from there, and a further 9 students were sent to the concentration camp after which they were hanged। This incident of Nazi soldiers agitated all the students of Czechoslovakia, as a result all the colleges and universities were closed by the students। Made this very adventure of his unforgettable, 2 years after this event, that is, in 1941, an international conference was called in London।
This conference was of students fighting against fascism। The conference decided to observe 17 November every year as International Student Unity Day to remember the students who were martyred by the Nazis। It’s important to tell you that in India too, on October 15, President Dr. Abdul Kalam’s birthday is celebrated as National Student Day।
On International Students Day, many universities around the world use this occasion to showcase cultural and diversity। Some university students organize special activities। Students also spread the message of unity on social media। Today, we salute all the martyred students for the barbaric incident of Nazis and hope that the students who will lead and guide the country in the future should be treated with sympathy, otherwise we will not be able to improve the progress of our country and build the character of the students. अन्तरराष्ट्रीय छात्र दिवस
17 नवंबर को पूरे विश्व में इंटरनेशनल स्टूडेंट डे मनाया जाता है। यह दिवस पहली बार 1941 में उन छात्रों की याद में मनाया गया था, जो चेकोस्लोवाकिया में विरोध प्रदर्शन के दौरान शहीद हो गए थे। ओर्गनाइजिंग ब्यूरो यूरोपियन स्कूल स्टूडेंट्स यूनियन की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट के मुताबिक, 1939 के अंत में चार्ल्स यूनिवर्सिटी के कई मेडिकल स्टूडेंट्स ने स्वतंत्र चेक रिपब्लिक देश बनाने की मांग को लेकर नाजियों के खिलाफ जमकर सड़कों पर विरोध प्रदर्शन किया था। छात्रों की आवाज को दबाने के लिए नाजियों ने उनपर खूब लाठियां बरसाईं और कुछ स्टूडेंट्स को फांसी पर भी लटका दिया।
‘अन्तरराष्ट्रीय छात्र एकजुटता दिवस’ 17 नवंबर को ही क्यों मनाया जाता है..?
किसी भी देश के लिए शिक्षक भविष्य का निर्माण करता है और छात्र देश का भविष्य होता है। आज हम उसी छात्र के विश्व छात्र दिवस की बात करेंगे। दुनिया भर में 17 नवंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय छात्र दिवस या कहिए अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्र एकता दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। हालांकि इस दिन के साथ बहुत ही दुखद घटना जुड़ी हुई है।
इतिहास में 28 अक्टूबर 1939 चेकोस्लोवाकिया के एक हिस्से पर नाजियों का कब्जा था, उसी चेकोस्लोवाकिया की राजधानी प्रगा में वहां छात्रों और शिक्षकों ने देश की स्थापना की वर्षगांठ के मौके पर एक प्रदर्शन का आयोजन किया था। नाजियों ने प्रदर्शनकारियों पर गोलियां चला दी जैसे भारत में जनरल डायर ने चलाई थी जिसमें मेडिकल का एक छात्र मारा गया।
छात्र के अंतिम संस्कार के समय भी प्रदर्शन किया गया। नतीजे में प्रदर्शनकारियों को गिरफ्तार करने के लिए नाजी सैनिकों ने 17 नवंबर 1939 को छात्रों के छात्रावास में घुसकर वहां से 1200 छात्रों को गिरफ्तार किया और तो और 9 छात्रों को यातना शिविर में भेज दिया गया जिसके बाद उन्हें फांसी दी गई। नाजियों के सैनिकों की इस घटना ने चेकोस्लोवाकिया के सभी छात्रों को उद्वेलित कर दिया परिणाम स्वरूप सभी कॉलेज यूनिवर्सिटी यों को छात्रों ने बंद करा दिया। उनके इसी साहसिक घटना को अविस्मरणीय बना दिया इस घटना के 2 साल बाद यानी 1941 में लंदन में एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन बुलाया गया।
यह सम्मेलन फाॅसीवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ने वाले छात्रों का था। सम्मेलन में नाजियों द्वारा शहीद किए गए छात्रों को याद करने के लिए हर साल 17 नवंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय छात्र एकता दिवस के रूप में मनाने का निर्णय लिया गया। आपको यह बताना जरूरी है कि भारत में भी 15 अक्टूबर को राष्ट्रपति डॉ. अब्दुल कलाम के जन्मदिन को राष्ट्रीय विद्यार्थी दिवस के रूप में मनाया है।
अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्र दिवस पर दुनिया भर की कई यूनिवर्सिटी इस दिन सांस्कृतिक और विविधता के प्रदर्शन के लिए इस मौके का इस्तेमाल करती हैं। कुछ यूनिवर्सिटी के छात्र खास गतिविधियों से का आयोजन करते हैं। सोशल मीडिया पर भी छात्र एकता का संदेश फैलाते हैं। आज नाजियों बर्बर घटना के लिए हम सभी शहीद छात्रों को नमन करते हैं व आशा करते हैं कि जो छात्र भविष्य में देश का संचालन व पथ प्रदर्शक होगा उसके साथ सहानुभूति का व्यवहार रखना चाहिए अन्यथा हम अपने देश की तरक्की में व छात्रों के चरित्र निर्माण में कहीं कुछ खो देंगे। सभी छात्रों की एकता के लिए हम सभी को प्रणाम करते हैं और आशा करते हैं कि छात्र अपनी शक्ति को सकारात्मक मार्ग की तरफ इस्तेमाल करेंगे।
