National Press Day
The first Press Commission had envisioned a Press Council with the aim of protecting the freedom of the press in India and setting high ideals in journalism।
In the year 1956, the first Press Commission was planned to constitute a Press Council to protect the freedom of the press in India। In India, the Press Council was established on 4 July 1966। It took effect from 16 November 1966। Therefore, November 16 is celebrated every year as National Press Day।
In the world today, about 50 countries have a Press Council or Media Council। In India, Press has been called Watchdog and Press Council India has been called Moral Watchdog। National Press Day draws our attention to the freedom and responsibilities of the press।
The Press Council of India was formed in 1966 under the Press Council Act 1978। It also exercises authority over the State’s means for the protection of freedom of the press। Apart from this, it ensures that the Indian press is not affected by any external matter।
राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस
प्रथम प्रेस आयोग ने भारत में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की रक्षा एंव पत्रकारिता में उच्च आदर्श कायम करने के उद्देश्य से एक प्रेस परिषद की कल्पना की थी।
वर्ष 1956 में, भारत में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की रक्षा के लिए एक प्रेस परिषद के गठन के लिए पहले प्रेस आयोग की योजना बनाई गई थी। भारत में 4 जुलाई 1966 को प्रेस परिषद की स्थापना की गई थी। यह 16 नवंबर 1966 से प्रभावी हुआ। इसलिए, 16 नवंबर को हर साल राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
विश्व में आज लगभग 50 देशों में प्रेस परिषद या मीडिया परिषद है। भारत में प्रेस को वाचडॉग एवं प्रेस परिषद इंडिया को मोरल वाचडॉग कहा गया है। राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस, प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता एंव जिम्मेदारियों की ओर हमारा ध्यान आकृष्ट करता है।
प्रेस काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया का गठन प्रेस काउंसिल एक्ट 1978 के तहत 1966 में किया गया था। यह प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की सुरक्षा के लिए राज्य के साधनों पर भी अधिकार रखता है। इसके अलावा यह सुनिश्चित करता है कि भारतीय प्रेस किसी बाहरी मामले से प्रभावित न हो।
